2.9 Gen 2 Boxster: boot lid opening?

I think the gas strut has emptied on my boot lid.
When I release the rear lid by the sill lever or the key the lid only pops-up by 10mm, just enough to get a finger tip under to fully open it.
It will stay open at any angle I open it to, it does not sag and it closes with ease.

It was like this when I had it but it should it pop open and then rise?
Graham.

I think that is normal. I have had my 2001 986S from new and the lid has always behaved as you describe.

The gas struts are to hold the lid open. If it stays up without dropping they are OK
