New Cayenne launch

I went to the local launch. They certainly try to keep the Cayenne as much of a sports car as possible but I also had 2 particular thoughts:
1. It is amazing that they get a 2.5 tonne Cayenne Turbo S to do 0-60 in 3.7 secs even with 570 bhp?
2. If maybe 90% of 911s ever made are still going, I wonder what percentage of Cayennes will be around in 20 to 50 years?

Well i still have my original Kn 2003 but it has only done 60K miles.
However it seems that most owners use them to commute etc and
really clock up the miles 180K seems normal .But when you think
of the number of miles a London Taxi driver clocks up 180 is nothing ?

According to OPC Guildford and OPC Reading, any new orders will likely arrive November this year at the earliest, and maybe as late as early 2019. Whilst the car is assembled in Slovakia, parts and the engine will come from Zuffenhausen which will be closed for at least 3 months this summer. Presumably your May/June 2018 was for an order which you have already placed/confirmed car undriven.
I feel like a kid who has just been told that Christmas has been delayed by 6 months!

Phillip if you seriously interested give the new dealership a ring at Porsche South london

I went to my local 'launch' in Swindon last week. I've been to a few of these and found the event up to usual standard of being well executed, very slick and with the usual mixture of Porsche owners ;)

Agree with Tony's comment above about the speed. Can't believe they can get the thing up to 60 in the same sort of time as a GT3!
I think the thing looks very impressive. Lovely cabin (the new 'touch' controls mean the center console doesn't look busy) and the rear lights are another improvement. I think it is an attractive motor (for an SUV) and makes the very earlier generations look very old/odd. If I had £100k+ lying around i'd be in the market for a nicely specced one - probably an S.

I prefer looking round at the other metal - a nice white 997 GT2 (I think?) a few RS' and a couple of the new Sport Turismos where present, oh and a very appealing looking violinist! ;)

tiskev,
I spoke to Porsche South London and they have nothing available until the end of 2018. Christmas is still postponed.....or maybe cancelled!
Thanks anyway,
Phillip

We haven't even had an invite to the launch at Porsche Chester having purchased two new cars from them in the last 2 years!

We really liked the new one, especially the touch controls. I got the feeling that the roof centre switch panel was a bit lower. Salesman told me the screen is actually further forward at the bottom than on the outgoing ones.

Some interesting new options (well new to me) as ever at interesting prices!!

Interesting they were all left hookers - adds credence to the fact delivery dates might be a way off if they haven't even 1 for the launch.

Tiskev,
I believe that I have one from Solihull. A cancelled order so not my specification but near enough.
Many thanks for your kind suggestions .
Phillip
