Motor noise when pressing the Air Recirculation button

Hi, I Used the Air Recirculation button this morning when driving through some thick smoke. When I pressed it I heard a motor make a whirring sound and also when I truned it off. Is this usual or is there a problem? To be honest it is very rarely used so should I be bothered? My car is a 987.2 Cayman 2012 2.9.
Kind regards
Rob

Rob,

I would think that's perfectly normal. It's probably just the motor shutting a flap valve to prevent outside air entering the HVAC system and switching the system to recirculation mode.

Thanks for the reply Jeff. Its something that isn't used often so hopefully just normal like you say.

When pressing the Air Recirculation button it sounds like a machine gun. Pressing on button is, like an electrical switch, except it is pretty loud. It comes from under the dash and starts about a minute. If the air conditioning moves or fan controls in any direction, it stops for a few seconds then starts again. It has also happened at my bedroom AC, but then instead of handling the things by own using DIY methods, I was suggested by one of my friends to call an expert like AC repair Santa Barbara who will look for the issue and will able to solve it.
