Broken fuel filler cap retainer / cord / tether?

I bought one of these on the off chance:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Petrol-Fuel-Tank-Filler-Locking-Cap-Cover-Key-Black-OE-Quality-996-201-241-03/302194055849?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

The fuel cap itself is nothing like the OEM part - it doesn't have the same valve system for pressurisation / vacuum (not sure how Porsche fuel system works) and I wouldn't want to use it, but the rotating ring and retainer / cord / tether which joins the fuel filler cap to the car to stop it being dropped or lost can be easily prised off this cheap part by fingers alone and fitted on to the OEM fuel cap. A cheap solution compared to buying the OEM fuel cap if your tether has broken and these trivial problems annoy you :)

Unfortunately Olly, that's the risk you take purchasing items from fleabay.

Return it and buy from a reputable source such as a Porsche Centre or someone like Design 911UK. I doubt that it'll be much more expensive.

The hole at the end of my tether has snapped[;)], I will consider that, thanks.

But for now, the tie-wrap seams to do the trick

I had planned to take the tether from the ebay unit before buying Jeff - I could see that it wasn't the same as the OEM part. I'm wondering if the Porsche part has changed, because the cap listed on 911UK looks like the ebay unit. It doesn't have the "prong" for securing the cap in the hinge of the fuel flap whilst filling..
