Squeaking Steering Column - easy fix?

My steering column has developed an annoying squeak. Is this an easy fix with Porsche N-rated grease or is it the early signs of something more sinister?

Steering problems can often be traced to the big nut behind the wheel in my experience! [8|] [:D]

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have the very same issue.
