What's the deal with the seats.
Someone said if you spec comfort seats with the leather package, you get a leather cabin for not a lot of money, but I don't get it.
Can anyone clarify, please?
Regards,
Clive.

Hi Clive, I've been through all this so here goes:
Macan S Petrol and Diesel have the same seat options:
The standard seat is 8 way electrically adjustable on the driver's seat, 6 way mechanical on the passenger seat with Alcantera centre panels and leatherette elsewhere.

Upgrade cost £1004 to 14 way electrically adjustable on both the S models and you get additional adjustments and leather centre panels on the seats

For an additional £210 upgrade cost from 14 way to the 18 way seat doesn't change the material but adds the deeper adjustable bolsters . So the 18 way upgrade costs £1214 vs the 14 way at £1004

Next is the Partial Leather Seat with Leather Package Option which adds leather to the top of the dash, centre console storage compartment lid, seat bolsters, front side of headrests, door pull armrests and door pulls front and rear this costs an additional £1052 on top of either of the 8 way, 14 way or 18 way upgrades. So the 8 way seat with this option now costs £1052, the 14 way seat costs £2056 and the 18 way costs £2266

Finally for another £1020 on top of the Partial Leather Seat with Leather Package Option you can add leather to the underside of the dash including the glove box, centre console side sections, steering wheel airbag module, upper and lower door trim sections front and rear, seat outer bolsters, side of front and rear headrests, front seat backrest surrounds. This is effectively what comes as standard now in the 991. So the full leather package 8 way seat costs £2072, 14 way seat would cost £3076 and the 18 way £3286

The Turbo has the Partial Leather Seats with Leather Package 18 way as standard, so this would be the £2266 option for the S models, the Full leather Option described above for £1020 is the only upgrade available and you can have the 14 way seats instead for the same price if you want.

I hope that helps
Adrian

Great info Adrian. Thanks very much.

One further point, does the 14/18 way adjustment include the passenger seat too?

Which have you gone for?

Regards,

Clive.

I'm just trying to work out how a seat can be adjusted 18 different ways....[;)] Are these heated and ventilated too or is that yet another extra?

Hi Clive
I've a Macan Turbo on order and at the moment I've not changed the standard 18 way adaptive sports seats but I have added the full leather option. that is the same as my 991.

18/14 way is on both driver and passenger seats

14 way - With 3 memory settings
Forwards
Backwards
Tilt Up
Tilt Down
Recline Back
Recline Forward
Squab extend
Squab retract
Lumber Support - Position in seat back and how much it pushes out
Steering Wheel - Up Down In and Out

18 way - Note there is no memory for these additional settings as far as I could tell
All the above plus extend/retract side bolsters on the seat squab and seat back

I think it's a bit of con describing them as 14 way and 18 way when in reality there are 8/10 settings adjustable in two directions.

Heating and ventilation is yet another option, I've gone for the heating option front and back, as I intend to keep this car for some time I'm making sure I have everything I want now rather than wish I had added it after taking delivery.

The Sports Seats do grip very tight, I'm relatively slim but I found I was more comfortable with the side bolsters fully retracted as they are quite large so not sure how well they will stand up to wear over time, I've got my drive at Silverstone in September so I will see what they are like then.

Hope that all helps
Adrian

Considering how infuriated I get when someone adjusts my seats, and how many miles it takes to get them back just right, 18 way adjustment sounds like a nightmare. Just as well they have memory as well. ;-)

I tried out the 18 way seats in Macan yesterday, but Judy considers the side bolsters are a bit of an imposition when getting in an out. Also, we were told they are prone to excessive wear (although I doubt there's yet been sufficient passage of time to for this to be borne out in practice).

Adrian, I would certainly recommend looking at the ventilated seat option with your full leather spec. Once you have it, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. I've been using it a lot in my 997 this summer! [:)]

I first had a short test drive in Swindon's Macan S (Petrol) in April, the day after the launch evening, it had only covered 50 miles, I then drove it again for the day in June the mileage then was nearly 1800 and since April subject no doubt to many entry and exits by drivers and passengers, the side bolsters looked no different to when I first drove it so I don't think there will be a problem with wear and tear. However, yes they are tight but very comfortable, we spent 5 hours driving that car and no issues with fatigue or seat comfort but I did relax the settings of the bolsters to the point where they felt more like the sports seats in my 991.

I've thought about seat ventilation and may well go for that based on the recommendation.

I've got ages to make my mind up because until Swindon get their allocation for 2015 they cannot tell me a build date, my estimate is April or later.

According to the website, the Macan Turbo has adaptive Sports seats with 18-way adjustment and are completely upholstered in leather, whilst on the configurator, it's saying they're partial leather seats with leather package . So it seems Porsche are confused too! [&:]

Clive.

My info came from the hardback brochure and price guide which I think is more accurate than the configurator, for example it already showed Sapphire Blue as an option but not available until 10/14.
