For the sake of my battered wallet, let's hope they don't.

Great links thanks for those Flat6

Why am I being told there will be no 981 Spyder soon or even if at all!

According to the Porsche link the following quote contradicts today's OPC spin

The new model becomes the third version in the Boxster range, joining the Boxster and Boxster S, yet at first sight stands out clearly from the other models. This is quite simply because the Spyder has been developed essentially for driving in the open air.

Let's hope Porsche will give us another third model to the 981 range real soon

My interpretation is that whilst the Spyder was introduced as a standard model in the 987 Boxster range, that doesn't mean they will do the same in subsequent generations such as the 981. So, maybe the statement just meant that the 987 Spyder wasn't to be limited in production run.

Rob you will be thrilled to know the used Spyder market today is at an historic low

Pistonheads today x 8 Spyders
OPC x 4 Spyders

I think more people are smelling the coffee than ever before

Is that a historic low in so far as the most expensive one for sale is under £40k?

Supply and demand - I hope there are none for sale as soon as possible!

I think the OPC's kept the price of Spyders unrealistically high for some time as they had most of them. Now they have dropped the prices (in some cases lower than independent or private sellers who haven't kept up), it has come as a bit of a shock to me. However, the prices are probably about right now, carrying a small premium (~£2K?) over a Boxster S.

I'd like to see them all gone and the depreciation slow down. It's only a 2 year old car so hasn't yet earned a cult status, so £36 to 38K is probably about right unfortunately.

I remember when Spyders cost this much at around 1 year old, http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4154363.htm but this 981 is only a few months old! I don't think the Spyder will be an 'investment' for a while yet, but then, what is? Soley about the enjoyment for now

And at 237 examples you can add "Exclusivity" to the CV I would guess by now Porsche have sold more than 237 981's in the UK since launch

Wow, that 981 has taken a bit of a battering already hasn't it.

Mrs K has got so partial to the Spyder's stripes that she's hoping to pick this upgrade to her Fiat 500 up tomorrow!

Oh most definitely, the exclusivity is a big attraction. Rarer than a lot of cars. It may also help you make friends. Everyone wants to talk to the Spyder owner at car events

To be fair with the prices, the Spyders that were commanding the highest prices are all gone - late year low mileage ex demo type cars. The four that are left at OPC's are older and have much higher mileage. A nearly new car would still be fetching over £40K. The last couple like that went in the last couple of weeks.

In 911 Sports classic livery too.

Watch out at those car shows, as a Spyder owner you get to meet all sorts... :-)

I've now worked out what your next car will be, to keep the matching going. Double bubble roof, 408 hp, available exclusively with manual transmission

Would love one but somewhat out of my league price wise. A fellow R18er has one, just beautiful.

Bargain one has popped up on here though!

I like the stereo and aircon on mine, wouldn't want to be without either to be honest. I may do the odd track day but reality dictates
I also do the odd traffic jam!

Are you able to join in at PCGB day at Oulton Park in November? Highly recommended.

Yeah that is a give away for a 61 plate. I dread to think what his wife has done to warrant that Just joking
I'd be asking more for my 60 plate and could still undercut the OPC's.

I also have stereo and air in mine. I just make sure my pockets are empty of coins to balance it out.

I'm seriously considering Oulton Park. I tracked the Cayman twice but haven't felt as compelled to take the Spyder on track, don't know why, but I have been thinking about it lately. Will see what the weather is like nearer the time before booking. Have you booked?

Not yet but will get round to it shortly.

Last year was brilliant. Only concern is weather at that
time of year but surely it can't rain all day!

I did Oulton the year before last and it bucketed down the whole day, so there was nothing you could do but go out in it. After overcoming my fears of sliding off in the wet (it was my first track day) it was good fun and the tyres combatted the rain very well. Still, I don't fancy a repeat
Hopefully the weather will be fine. Cooler temps must be good for nursing the tyres and brakes anyway.

I was there but not on track - spent much of the day up at the top of the control tower with my children dodging the rain!

It surely can't be as bad this time. I did Brands Hatch last year instead. Great track but it's so far for us. The wife felt a bit sea sick afterwards, so I must've been doing something right :-)
