First quote from local OPC was £1907 inc vat, so I tried my not so local indie in Northampton. Half this price!! Trouble is on a 12 year old car there is always going to be something else wrong, in my case 3 coolant leaks at the rear plus the poly belt tensioner had seized. Earlier in the year I had the usual front crossover pipes changed as I’d noticed a slight leak at the front. Had this done by a mobile Porsche specialist from Reading area. Price was around £800, against half OPC. So these pipes will go at around 10yeas and from what I’ve learned the longer you leave it the harder the job. I also had the wheels repainted from black to a silver grey and new tyres, PS4s a couple of months ago so I asked for a wheel alignment check which was added. So final bill was £1300, with an advisory note that the exhaust flange fixings were badly corroded. the bill included, major service, spark plugs, all air filters, brake fluid change, change transmission oil, unseize tensioner (apparently was a bit of a pig) remove 3 coolant lines, cleanup/ repair, plus the wheel alignment for £1300. I’m sure I read somewhere that the air bags need attention? Has anyone any advice on this, and has anyone any recommendation on exhaust bolts, ie material, as to wether to use steel, or stainless or titanium? Thanks in advance. Dave. Had the car about 7 years, always garaged but taken out in all weathers. I was expecting the brake discs “corroded” issue, but on inspection the inner faces were fine. This is the first year that I’ve ever had to spend a bit on money on it. Just got to remember it’s a 12 year old car now, so budget for a few costs at this age and don’t leave things, especially the front pipes. On the front left side there was absolutely no sign of a leak, but I had them changed anyway. Atm just going through some old threads about corroding exhaust bolts and finding suppliers of these things. So will let you how this goes. cheers. Not sure what the bill will be yet as it needed extra work doing but it was going to be £1200 ish. I guess it will be £1400 now ish. At least it's only every 12 years :-) I already had a new exhaust clamp a few years back. I would say an OPC now would have been £3k. I was going to replace the rubber engine mounts but will do that next service now. I asked for them to be checked and they seem ok for now, no sag and not perished . Again any car left in a colder garage or outside all Rubber will be shot at 12 years every where. This is a £3k bill on it's own due to labour. And on higher mile cars over 50k I guess people will need new Shocks etc. I am lucky my garage is intergrated and never gets too cold.
