Disc/Hub paint.

The centre of the brake discs (hub) on my 996 C2 (MY 03) have gone a git discoloured and, dare I say it, rusty. (The thick steel bit between the actual disc and the wheel) I'd like to repaint them and have been wondering if there is a specific make and colour of paint which I should use? It seems to happen to a lot on this model - maybe others too? I'd like to get them back to the light grey color that they originally were. Would Hammerite be a good choice - in some sort of light grey shade? I intend to use a brushed paint as oppossed to a spray to avoid any messy mistakes. Also, can anyone tell me the right place to jack the car up so that I can take the wheels off to do the job without damaging the car?

hammerite works fine, but engine laquer is very good too (sometimes called vht very high temperature paint), depending on what kind of finish you want. If its gloss go for the vht stuff. Fairly straight forward to do, just make sure you clean the hub up as much as possible before starting to paint and give the discs a good brush/clean before you start because as soon as you turn them you don't want little bits of cr4p falling into your newly painted bits. ;)

I've used Hammerite 'Smooth Silver' applied with a brush and it works very well. As Scotjc said just make ensure you clean the hubs to be painted vey well. I used course and fine wet & dry followed by two coats of Hammerite. The finished colour is almost an exact match to the wheels.
