Hi,2001 Boxster 2.7,been on battery tender ( C-tek ( for 5 months ) charger & cables getting very warm so disconnected it. Tried starting car,it did struggle but managed to start ,but then the alarm started going off. Is this a sign the battery has had it? Not been run for a while. Question if so how do I change the battery without setting the alarm off as its incredibly loud?
Thanks

Is the charger constantly warm, it may be cycling ?

Can you take the car on a run to charge it ?

Disconnect the alarm siren, it`s near the battery I believe ...

Boxster Battery Disconnection:
Switch on the ignition, and turn off all the loads you can (radio, aircon, interior lights, etc) before disconnecting the battery. Leave the key in that position until after you have reconnected. Disconnect the negative (Ground) wire first and then the positive cable. when reconnecting connect the positive cable first and then connect the negative (Ground) wire.
Don’t worry about the alarm if you do it like this .
Good luck !

Thanks guys, I can't take the car on a run yet as not taxed until April. I have read about turning key to position 1 , I will try that,it's just the alarm.is so loud made worse because its in the garage.! The charger is very warm as are connecting cables but this hasn't been the case before. I'm guessing the battery has had it and won't hold a charge. Got a new battery ready to go on tomorrow , hopefully I can disarm the alarm. Thanks for replies.
