Hello,
A warning indicator came on a couple of weeks ago ' Battery / Generator Warning ' It was just after the very cold weather so I wondered if the battery was faulty and fitted a new one as the old one was about 6 years old. The car starts well but the warning light still comes on very soon after you drive away.
Today I put a volt meter across the battery:
Engine off : 12.5v stable
Engine on idling : 13.6v to 14v fluctuating
Engine on idling Headlights and fan on : 13 to 13.6v fluctuating.
The headlights were not flickering though.
I have read earlier posts but could do with some help please.
Could the fault have gone away but the warning needs clearing? Can I do that ?
How can I tell if it is a problem with the alternator or the regulator ? The car has only done 35k miles from new.
I am sure a main dealer would be too expensive but do Porsche specialists have a diagnostic machine that could tell?
If I take it to a specialist I would like to have a clue beforehand. I haven't used a specialist near me before, can anyone suggest a trustworthy garage not too far from Buckhurst Hill ( IG9 ) in Essex please?
Thanks in advance ??
