928 Test drive

Hi All

Always had a soft spot for the 928 so been on the lookout for a while. Test drove a 1989 S4 Auto this morning, all electrics worked but the accelerator was very weighted, took a big push to move it and for the car to take off, heavier than the clutch in my 996. the car was driven from cold, my question is this normal or a sign of a problem?

Cheers

It is most likely just the "kickdown cable" but the cable from the pedal to the engine might have worn out it's nylon liner too. Might just need some lubrication and use, but might require new cables which would be about £300 for genuine parts, plus fitting.
If you are serious about getting a 928 I would highly recommend that you join the 928uk emailing list. (Send an email to 928uk@lists.928.org.uk and you should get a reply telling you how to join.)

You get used to the slightly heavy accelerator; it's a long cable in the rhd car.

I replaced mine at about 50k miles and it's been fine for another 100k.

The bonnet release can get sticky if not used much too.

A quick lube of the connectors on the manifold might help.

If you want a light project gts auto i'm advertising mine to sell before August. (N E Essex)
