Hi all,

in previous years there used to be discounted gold cup tickets for Porsche gb members! Is this available in 2023? as the only thing in the tickets section is track days…

thanks

pete

Good morning Pete,

Thank you for your post, the Gold Cup event has reimagined itself in recent years as a celebration of vintage days, with classic single-seaters, GTs, sports cars, and touring cars on track. Unfortunately, last year, in honour of that heritage MSV who own Oulton Park and run the event took the decision to re-focus the event to display historic cars only including the Porsche Club display area and MSV would only allow us to bring pre 2000 cars to the event.

Given this, whilst we were still in attendance last year, we decided to support the Supercar Pageant weekend instead and had a bigger turnout for that event as it was more inclusive for more of the club’s members.

We are not yet aware of MSV’s plans regarding these events for 2023 but as soon as we know more, we will share it here on the Forum as well as the R5 section of the website, on the R5 Facebook page and no doubt our Regional Organiser Matt Staines will send an email to all of the R5 members.

In the meantime, should you have any further questions or queries regarding this event please feel free to contact Matt at: r5@porscheclubgb.com

Thanks Martin, really appreciate the detailed and comprehensive response.

that sounds very different to how it used to be and maybe the Silverstone event on the august bank holiday weekend is the way to go.

do the super tourers still attend the gold cup?

We have just had a look on the MSV Oulton Park website and seen the following. Perhaps they have had a change of heart after last year or maybe it’s a mistake?
Either way, we’ll keep you posted.
Good luck with the GT4 acquisition, I loved mine you wont be disappointed. We will look forward to seeing you and it at a club night soon.
Best wishes for a Happy New Year.
Martin

As a previous ticket buyer I had an email directly from MSV yesterday about the Gold Cup announcing that applications for display cars were now open. In the message it stated "Please be aware the display is for Pre 2000’s cars, only.".

So it looks like the arrangements will be the same as last year. Supercar Pageant for everything, Gold Cup for older stuff only.

I had the same email, it's pretty clear that it says pre-2000 only in the display area, however, there was some ambiguity on the website when it talked about supercars being displayed as well. (define supercars..). As earlier in this thread, Matt is talking to MSV and hopes to get a definitive position in the week or so. Probably best to hold fire on booking tickets just yet to ensure we all know what we are buying into.

I've now had a conference call with MSV today and all display cars must be pre 2000 as expected.

However I have requested a Porsche Club parking area which will NOT be a display area, but members can potentially park together with later cars when attending the event.

MSV had no objection to this in principal and will get back to me on this in the next couple of weeks. I will update as I know more.

I’m interested in going as I’ve been a few times previously.

Is there any update on this? Would the tickets still be discounted for the PCGB parking, as they are for the Car Club / pre-2000 parking?

Yes booking is now open with discounted tickets for pre 2000 display cars. All Region 5 members has all the details on email last week. If your not in Region 5 drop me an email to r5@porscheclubgb.com

Ah, thanks Matt, tried to email you yesterday actually but for some reason it wouldn’t send. 2005 987S here, so I guess no discounted tickets, humph…

Email working fine today, correct no discount for post 2000 cars, but there is a dedicated PCGB parking area this year for all Porsches.
