Hi folks!

Although it's cold and slippery out there you can direct thoughts towards next year's track days as the PCGB calendar has just been announced.

Croft is scheduled for 3rd August 2023 for those who want to sign up.

Hello John et al,

Recall there was no availabilty within a week or two of being released last year, so I’m now booked in early for Croft!

Kind regards

Raj

Whether it can be officially called an R3 event or not I urge as many members of R3 as wish to participate sign up as soon as you can in order to avoid disappointment.

Gillian and I will be hosting a BBQ again, weather permitting, during the lunch break on the day, to which all R3 members, participating in the driving, or spectating, are warmly invited to attend.

Get those bookings made! https://www.porscheclubgb.com/shop/tickets/all-track-days/croft-trackday-03-august

Good to see the R3 numbers are growing!

Hoping I'll still be out on the tarmac when the chequered flag comes down Paul!

Good morning Gordon, thanks for the reply I will book my day, is there anything I need to do with my insurance ? Also is there anything else I will need to do? A BBQ sounds wonderful !

Gordon, I have found out what I need to do from the booking form, however do I still need to do my insurance?

I will try to book it again as its not working!

Hi Jonathan, “track day insurance“ is a whole subject on its own and there has been a lot of discussion on the forum.

Basically, depending on who you are insured with, your policy may allow for some track day cover. Should it not do so, then there are specialist policies just for this. They tend to be fairly open, charge on the basis of the value of your car and can be for individual events. There tends to be a significant excess, of course, normally a percentage of the car’s value.

I am about to go out for the day but have a look and let us know if you want any more info and I will dig out some more information for you.

Booked! Took me 3 or 4 goes as I kept getting an Error 404 page but all sorted now.

Well, small matter of putting the engine back in my car but plenty of time for such piffling annoyances to be dealt with.

Jonathan - welcome aboard! Insurance for track-days is not compulsory, although many people arrange it for peace of mind. As Gordon has pointed out, there are many providers, if your own insurance company doesn't offer it. You must have a crash helmet to venture onto the track, organisers used to offer helmets for hire but the pandemic seems to have stopped that practise. You must bring your driving license in order to sign on and you must arrive early enough to be present for the safety briefing at the beginning of the day (PCGB will send details of the day's schedule by email prior to the event). Legs and arms need to be covered while driving so a long sleeved top and long trousers are required, even if it's hot weather, which it certainly was last summer. It's useful to take a 12v tyre inflator and pressure gauge in case you need to adjust tyre pressures. Food and drink will be available to purchase at the track, the BBQ is free to R3 members, water is useful to remain hydrated.

Randall - I'll be watching for the big white car in my mirrors!

Dave - you'll be able to fit Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts and improve the handling! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Morning John,

Thank you very much for the information.

I was trying to book it and I kept getting 404 error too, so I had to march on with life! I am thinking about changing my car. I don't think it will matter if the booking changes with a different car? I will give my insurance company a call this week while I am off and look into buying a helmet, I do have a peddle bike one but somehow I don't think it will work.

Cheers Jonathan

Happy New Year Jonathan. New year, new car - way to go!

Change of car won't impact on your track day, provided it's a Porsche of course. If your registration changes with the new car you can probably let PCGB know by logging into your booking and a quick edit.

Bone dome needs to be a trifle more protective than a cycle lid [;)][;)][;)]

Drive safe.

John
