Not sure if it was available in 2012 but do you have the Power Steering Plus option on your car? If that’s failed then it might explain the error message. I had that on my 2013 981. Up to £3000 for replacement of electric power steering and resulting 4-wheel alignment. Not uncommon, same on 991. Nobody I could find (or known to reputable Indy I asked) does recon of these units. As a considerable part of the cost is the steering unit, don't forget to ask for the 10% PCGB discount if you have it done by OPC. I had a remaining unreplaced control arm done at the same time within that cost, which seemed a sensible precaution as the additional labour was minor and it avoided duplicating the alignment. Steering will presumably be covered if you have Porsche (or no doubt other) warranty, which I did not. Best just to book it in to your local Porsche dealer or Independent to get an assessment. They’ll be able to run some diagnostics to see what error codes are flagged-up and advise you on any remedial work. I would imagine that rack (or electronic module?) replacement would be a worst case scenario. You’ll be covered if you have the Porsche Extended Warranty.
