Lazy Starting Issue

I've only had my 997.1 Carrera S for a few weeks and while it always starts hot or cold, the starter motor seems very lazy. Is this a common problem, do I need a bigger battery or just attach my CTEK conditioner each night?

I experienced the same a few years back and had the battery to starter motor cables replaced. Over time they do corrode and resistance increases. A new pair did wonders and the engine spun over like new :)

+1 on the above Gordon, but it would be worth getting the battery checked-out beforehand to ensure that it’s fully up to scratch. Any battery supplier should be able to do this FOC.

If you’re buying a new battery it would be useful to source one with high cold cranking amps.

It’s always a good idea to keep the battery on a conditioner on a regular basis, especially since winter is approaching. In my experience it will prolong battery life significantly.

Many thanks for the excellent advice.

I will have the battery checked out. Are the battery to starter motor cables a DIY job?
