Hi everyone, the rear coil springs are nearing their end of life (2006 car) and I will need to replace them soon. I've not got experience of anything other than the OEM currently installed so am wondering what anyone else has found with replacing similar - did you go with a standard replacement or is there a better option these days?

I don't track the car so I'm not looking for anything that would bias towards that.

Cheers for any info.

I went OEM from my local OPC as not available elsewhere at the time. Make sure you read the colour coding on the springs if you go this route. £547 inc VAT for parts. Local garage fitted for £165.

Only the rear. One snapped with a huge bang so replaced both rear springs. The front springs seem much less likely to fail judging by Internet forum traffic. You are absolutely right to replace before failure as it was quite frightening.

No damage because I was turning in to my local garage that fixed it to buy fuel !!and only doing 5mph. They looked after car and OPC were helpful in arranging overnight delivery direct to garage and I had it back next day. Garage said they have seen spring take out tyre and occasionally a brake hose. I was lucky. Dread to think what would have happened at 70 mph on a smart motorway as no warning whatsoever. The other spring was perfect.
