Fuel vapour smell in the garage

Hello
I'm a 964 C2 Manual newbie. My car has just clicked over 132k miles with good service history, but there's a noticeable petrol vapour smell coming from the garage!
I've replaced the filler O-ring, but there wasn't much wrong with the old one. I've read several US forums about it but most people end up replacing everything with varying degrees of success.
Does anyone have an opinion on the most likely culprit? Fuel filler neck hose? Sender unit O-ring?
I've also read about the canister in the left rear wheel arch which leads to a breather behind the left front wheel?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi it sounds similar to the issue I had on my 964. If the smell is stronger when you open the bonnet, then it is likely the fuel filler neck pipe. My car had what looked like a double pipe. Issue was a split in one of the layers not not visible from the outside. It did not leak when putting fuel in yet but let vapour out. If you still have the issue, have a check there - I decided to change the filler pipe as we could not figure where else to look. It fixed the issue. Good luck.

Thanks, Alex- I will give it a go because several people have recommended this fix. Apparently, there are no less than 7 revisions to the filler neck!
