993 Carrera C2 Horn Embarrassment

Since returning from my holiday I decided to take the 993 out for a run to blow out the cobwebs. As I turned out of my drive the horn went off. I thought maybe I had caught the horn in the process of turning. A bit later I was making a left turn and it happened again. Now it it is happening more frequently.
Has anybody had this situation happen to them?
I have looked on the internet and found it could possibly be the airbag mounting plate bushes that have deteriorated. I either need a new steering wheel, mounting plate or new bushes.
Any experience of this would be of assistance.

I have the same thing. Not good on those Cotswold drives out with tooting all the time
Mine is in for a service and will be looked at then. Only on the Drivers side top right for me so far

It’s a common problem and easy to fix. Trying to remember exactly what’s involved as it’s a few years ago I did mine. From memory there is a thread on Rennlist that walks you through how to do it. I’ll see if I can find it.

Yes, very common problem.
Done mine a couple of times...
Google it and you’ll see how to do DIY with rubber washers or grommets [;)][:)]

this youtube video shows how to fix with the replacement Porsche plate - can't remember exact cost but it wasn't a lot of money and easily obtainable

the trickiest thing if I recall correctly was having a suitable long torx bit of the right size to access the screws behind the steering wheel
several other videos around showing it - just search

I took the car into Two plus Two in Brierley Hill as they do all the services on the car since 2005. Indeed having taken the airbag off they found it was indeed the mounting plate where the bushes had deteriorated. they sourced a mounting plate, fitted it and all is well again.
