996 C4S toddler seat struggle

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help! We go to France in less than 3 weeks and we thought a car seat would be easy. We bought the maxi cosi tobi based on recommendations online, however it does not fit well at all. the base overhung the edge of the seat and rubbed on the top pillar.

Does anyone have a reccomendation that actually fits properly please?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Lee,

You need one with a narrow base. I‘ve got the official Porsche child seat and it doesn’t fit that well - moves around. Ironically, I was given a Halfords Essential child seat a few years back as it was really light and came apart, so easy to transport on holiday. I later used it in the 996 and it was perfect! It’s an inexpensive solution.

I looked it up and they still offer the range. Probably worth taking the car to check fit though - just in case they’ve made dimensional changes. Other than that, the Britax Romer fits well too. They have these on Amazon for around £100. They have a narrow base, so ideal for the back of our cars.

Hope this helps.
John

I've previously used a maxicosi rodifix in a 996.2 C2. This will fit, but the child will have more space & you can achieve a much better fit, by removing the seat back & bottom.

The bottom just lifts out. To remove the back, you'll need to remove the plastic trim between the 2 seats, then unscrew & remove a metal bar which allows the seat backs to pivot. You'll also need to unscrew the retaining bolt & mount on the outer side. I left mine like this with just a single rear seat, till my daughter outgrew the car seat.
