Cayman servicing?

Hi Guys. First post on the forum, having been a sleeping partner for the last couple of years or so taking in all the good stuff here.
I've had a 981 S for nearly 3 years now (my first Porsche) and it's been everything I'd hoped, absolutely brilliant.
However, I've got a couple of issues at the moment that I don't quite understand. Firstly a yellow service warning light came up the other day stating 'Interm. service in 18000 mi, 23 days. Also digging into the service menu shows the next service to be at 38000 miles or Sept 2024. This will be 3 years and 3 months after the last service?
The car is 9 years old now and has been serviced every 2 years in accordance with standard servicing requirements, the last (4th) service being in June last year, when the car was 8 years old having covered 26000 miles.
Any thoughts about how this spurious information would end up on the car would be gratefully received.
I guess I'm going to need a diagnostic PIWIS check?

As you say servicing is required every 2-years/20,000 miles, so if the car was serviced last year another service isn’t yet due. The most likely explanation is that the technician didn’t set-up the notification correctly so your only course of action is either to ignore the message or get someone with the appropriate diagnostic software (PIWIS or equivalent) to reset it for you. Alternatively you could invest in something like an iCarsoft diagnostic tool which should allow you to reset it yourself, amongst other features.

If you go back to the dealer who did the service they really should do it FOC since the fault was theirs Bob.

Yes that's what I was thinking, I don't know the ins & out's of PIWIS but the next service date would presumably be a consequence of the date entered for the previous service.

My air con is not giving cold air.
I’ve had the gas system Pressure test done, seems ok.
Wondering if anyone has had a similar problem please.
 
try turning the PCM and Air con off fully, count to 10 and then turn back on. It should reset. If it doesn't work then it may be worth having it checked again as you may have a tiny leak in your condenser rads.

Just had my aircon fixed Rod. It also passed the tests by an air con 'specialist' who filled it, but it then lost pressure over the next two weeks. I went to an independent Porsche specialist who knew how to test properly. The condensers are the likely culprit but, in my case, it turned out to be the high pressure pipe over the engine, which required the engine to be lowered a bit and proved rather costly. Just make sure that whoever does the diagnosis and fixes it, gives some form of guarantee.

Rod,

It could be something as simple as a blown fuse or a faulty pressure-monitoring switch, so both are worth checking.

Maybe you should consider engaging the services of an a/c specialist rather than using the usual high street options?
