Engine overheat message

IMHO, messages on the dash are to be taken seriously, not dismissed by a comment.

My air cooled 3.2 911 shows 10 deg F in these hot days more than when the weather is 'normal, ie an ambient of 20C or less.

As the ambient (today) is much hotter, i expect the engine temp to rise, but not to prompt alarm.

Modern cars send an alarm message to ensure all is under control. I'd wait for Wednesday, should be much cooler and see how the car responds. If the message appears, I would find a good Independent to you and seek advice.

We have a 9/2016 718 Boxster S PDK and recently we have had two engine overheat messages appear, when the fans start working overtime and the message says shut down engine and allow to cool.

The PC has been dismissive; "these things happen", won't be an issue".

Does anyone here agree with them or should I be doing something?

It's booked in for its "minor" 6 year service in early September.

Thanks
David

Lets turn this arround, if you chose to ignore these warnings and then went into the dealer with a seized engine would the dealer still say "these things happen" but we'll still cover it under warranty as we told you "these things happen" ,

I doubt it, I can be fairly sure there would be a sucking of air over teeth and then the inevitable statement " Obviously we can't cover this under warranty sir as you ignored the warings on the info system TWICE", Sir.

Ask them to put their comments in writting to you, I think this will improve their focus.

So, and I haven't made it up, I took my wife’s Boxster (09/2016 - 718S) in for the 6-year service recently and today is the first time we have driven it since. My wife is currently stranded in Sutton Coldfield (c. 50 miles from home) as the engine overheat message is showing again, the same message that I told PC Nottingham should be investigated when it was in for service. When I collected the car, no comment was passed on it so I assumed all was sorted, clearly not. The wife is currently limping her way to PC Sutton Coldfield. It's just a pity both Nottingham and Sutton are owned by the same group (Stratstone). David
