I am trying to get some information on a 1969/70 911T Targa which I am about to start restoring. The car is LH drive and is a European car imported to the UK in 1977 so is on a 77 "R" plate. I have the VIN number which is a 1969 and the engine number which is a 1970 2.2 so I am guessing she is a very late 69 or early 70 crossover. I have no other information on the car so any advice/help would be gratefully received.

You do not say exactly what information you are looking for so I have assumed you are interested in the VIN and engine number. Although not definitive the "Red Book" ( no longer have a copy unfortunately) will help you pin down approximate dates for the engine. If the VIN is definately a 69 then you should have a 2 litre engine not a 2.2. As far as I am aware there were no "cross overs" engine wise. I have December 1969 build car but that is a 1970 model year with the appropriate 1970 VIN.
If I remember correctly Targas had their own series of engine numbers.

Hi, I've just finished restoring / having restored my 1969 911t. I managed to get the 'Kardex' (original build sheet) for my car. I had to pay about £90, but the information has been invaluable (things like build date, original colour, trim, wheels etc. Please let me know if you want some help getting the Kardex for your car. Cheers Barry
