987.2/2.9 New rear tyres

Sorry for potentially a boring thread. My car needs 2 rear tyres, the fronts are near new Bridgstone Potenza RE 050, so want to fit Bridgstones agin on the rear.
The current tyres are Bridgstone Potenza RE050A 265x35x19xY and have give me a sure footed 20K miles(!). I don't think these are 'N' rated, something I'm not fussed about.

Looking on the 'net, it seems there is a new tyre, same size, but called the Bridgstone Potenza Sport.
Rated A for wet grip (RE050 are C) and better on fuel, B instead of C, so reads like the Sport is a good tyre, and £20 or so cheaper even.

Before getting them, any comments please?

Thank you for those details.

will be contacting my local HiQ depot and. See what they say, they supplied the last rears.

Im not sure if they do 265 width though.

I don't need demon tyres on this car, I just tour around in it so Bridgstones are fine.

Seems the Potenza Sport is not N rated according to the tyre fitters, HiQ , but they have found me exact replacements to the ones currently on the 987.2.

£250 each, and going up by the week!

Fitted this Friday.

I am pleased and embarrassed that the rears have lasted just about 20K miles, a record?

I paid 178 each for ps2’s for the front of mine a month ago.Kwik fit Mobile fit. Next day. On the drive. Plus various add ons (valves, disposal etc. ) came to just under 400 quid all in.

and I got 40 quid back from Michelin - they have a year long promotion running.

if you are happy with what you are getting - great, but that doesn’t sound cheap to me.

also. If they are hard to get. Are they still making them. Check the date code. these tyres don’t age well and crack over time. So make sure you are getting recent production not some 5 Year old stock they found in a warehouse.

Thanks for the details. I'm going ahead mainly for one reason, to have rears that match the fronts, maker and designation.

Never had a car with mixed tyres.

The fronts were new last year and since alignment to factory spec even wear, so that sets the scene!
