987.2 Rear lights difference LHD/RHD

Hi, I recently had a slight disagreement with a truck and cracked the rear right hand side light cluster. Digging around online I found a second hand replacement that came from Spain, and obviously a LHD car as opposed to my RHD one. Without giving it too much thought I swapped them out last night and was disappointed to see it didn't work at all. Having a bit of a look this morning it's apparent they're different due to the fog light placement, which is possibly just a different way of illuminating the brake LEDs?
My question is, can I swap any bits (PCB etc) from my existing damaged one to potentially bring life to the LHD drive one?
Thanks

Sorry Ian, I’ve no idea. I presume that none of the lights work on the LHD unit? Maybe it’s just a programming issue which can be reset using some Porsche-specific diagnostics (PIWIS or equivalent)? Perhaps a friendly local Porsche Independent will be able to advise you.

Unfortunately if the units have different part numbers then I suspect you’re stuffed! [:(]

Thanks Jeff.

Yes, I got nothing at all when the replacement was plugged in. I'm hoping it actually works... They both have exactly the same long part numbers apart from the last two letters. On mine it's LV and on the replacement it's RV, which I'm assuming differentiates them from right to left hand drive, although confusingly the LV is off a RHD & the RV is off the LHD one :)

I think I'll remove the sticky foam pad from the back of the cluster tonight and see how easy it would be to swap out the electronics first. After that it'll be a trip to that friendly Porsche Independent.

Can't help but beat myself up for being too hasty in ordering it.
