Oil and filter change at the dealer

Hey there!

First post, so please bear with :)

I got a 2019 Macan S and its time for oil and filter change. I was quoted £580 to get it done at the dealer and I'm finding a bit excessive, so my first question is, should I go ahead and get it done at the dealer or look elsewhere? What's the general consensus here?

Secondarily, does it make any difference in terms of valuation, etc?

Thank you in advance for suggestions/ideas.

Cheers
Wagner

If the car is under extended warranty, or you plan to purchase it, then it'll need to be done by the dealer.

I have an older Boxster and use independent specialists for it - often half the price

If you do go to the OPC, PCGB Members will get 10% off cost of parts

Hey Richard, thank you for the response.

I have taken on a lease and I'm considering either purchasing it or getting the GTS. I guess I better stick with the dealer then?

I take it you have an "Oil Change Due" message come up.

Oil and filter change is a straight forward DIY job or is easily carried out by your local Indy.

You can buy the correct grade of oil from an independent supplier (Google for the best deals (but be sure to only purchase the filter from an OPC using your Club discount, of course).

You should be able to do the whole thing for around £300 or less. You'll need someone to reset the ECU and clear the message, but most Indies will have an OBDC reader that can do this.

The correct oil that an OPC will use is 0-40 Grade Mobil 1. I purchased it from Arnold Clark - www.arnoldclark.com 2 X 5ltr containers for £79.99 inc Vat.
The oil filter that is supplied to OPC's for my Macan Turbo is a Mann filter available from Euro car parts for £17.32 inc Vat

A local independent charged £60.00 to perform the oil and filter change with the materials I supplied and also reset the service indicator, so a massive saving over an OPC

Hope the info gives some guidance.

Good luck

Just a quick observation. Vehicles with particulate filters need to use Porsche C30 grade motor oil - that's green label Mobil 1. Porsche used to mark their filters with a tiny emblem confirming their origin. Not sure if they still do, but as it's a relatively small outlay, I wonder if it's really worth risking warranty by fitting a non-Porsche sourced part. [;)] Regards, Clive

My second oil change was done on Wednesday at Sheffield OPC (JCT600). They quoted £390.16 although the actual bill was a little less. Run a mile fron anybody wanting £580!!!

£580 is a lot for just an oil & filter change. Mind you, so it £390.

I had the same done to my current X3 M40i the other month, and the bill was only £102.12.

My old R8 was only £125. Admittedly that was many years ago.

I guess you pay for the privilege of owning a Porsche !

Those were the days!

The cost of the oil alone is £120 for a sump replenish + a bit for toping up and I recall the filter is around £70 from your PC.

Clive
