Saving of PCM 6 navigating route with stopovers.

It appears that cars fitted with PCM 6.0 do not have the facility to save a route created with stopovers. This is a backward step from the cars fitted with PCM 5.0, when this facility is available. This is annoying when planning a specific route for club drive where the route could have been saved beforehand.

I have spoken with Porsche support who were not much help, but have requested they rise a ticket and pass it on to the experts.

It's a pity to be losing some of the most valuable features with every iteration of the Porsche Satnav system. There was the ability to programme safety camera locations, now route planning is missing. I hope it can be restored once your ticket has been attended to.
I recall the last one took quite some time to resolve!

Clive

I've been using the Tom Tom Go App on my iPhone with wireless Car Play to my PCM 6.
I plan the route using Google Maps then using this conversion tool Maps to GPX I convert the route to a GPX file which I then import to TomTom My Drive https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/#mode=viewport+viewport=51.58004,-2.05969,13,0,-0+ver=3 from there I sync the routes with the TomTom Go App.
The conversion step can be missed out by planning the route directly in TomTom My Drive if preferred.

It works really well and unlike using Google Maps does not need an internet connection as the maps are pre-downloaded into the iPhone, Traffic information is included and Speed Camera locations with warnings are also shown if that option is selected.

The App can be downloaded with a free trial and then there are various subscription plans, mine is £19.99 for 12 months.

I have used it successfully on two Porsche Club trips and have just used it to plan a European Trip that I'll be doing in a couple of weeks time, it makes any of the Porsche Navigation systems (I've had them all from PCM 3 to PCM 6) look prehistoric.

I have similar story to Bigcat. I have been using waze and Google maps with car play for the last 2 years on PCM 5 & 6. I recently went on an organised European tour and was given gpx routes to follow so downloaded both TomTom apps (MyDrive and Go) and used the free 7 day trial. TT is very good for Europe especially speed limits and also extended average speed zones where it gives you a constant update. It’s not as easy as Google maps when finding destinations and you have to download all the maps you need but overall much better than any OEM satnav IMO.

I agree with both of you and have been using TomTom app subscribed on Apple car play importing GPX files well over a year, I used this on a recent trip to Spain and worked very well. I don't like using Apple car play as you loose a some of the features such as pinch screen to zoom in/out. You also loose the pop up screen on the instrument cluster. The app on Apple car with PCM6 is a vast improvement with the full screen. On a car with the latest PCM why should we have to use a 3rd party Nav software.

In a further dumbing down of the Navigation System in MY22 PCM, it is no longer possible to enter a destination using GPS coordinates. If you were to look up this function in the index to the Driver’s Manual it will tell you the answer can be found on P217. However, once you get there you will find only disappointment.

I queried this with "Smart Mobility” who replied
"the new versions of the PCM is because of the complexity of the system where it would require 2 additional separate Keyboards for the input and because there are two different formats for the geo coordinates"

Odd that when coordinates only require alphanumeric entry and earlier versions of PCM managed with a single keyboard.[8|]
