Excellent, Tom. I recognise your OPC too, where I got mine from.
I seem to remember you have had quite a few 911s over the years - is this your first TurboS?

Congratulations Tom,

It's a stunning piece of kit - exciting times. [:)]

Hope you'll be able to bring it along to our Register Display at Beaulieu in August. [;)]

Clive

Thanks all. Yes this is my first Turbo S but my ninth 911…. I am the most excited I have ever been for a car. I really went to town on the options. Having had a few (!) I know the bits I like and the things I don’t. Lots of carbon, extra stitching and leather.

Clive, I am due to move overseas in Aug, but if I am still here and I haven’t shipped the car yet, I would love to display her in August. Where do I sign up and can I cancel if I can’t make it?

It’s a very different experience. Like you, I’ve had a similar number and this is my first too. You’re right to be excited.

You can apply to the Beaulieu Supercar Weekend organisers for an invitation. The event is free to exhibitors and includes some minor hospitality. You are able to choose to attend on Saturday, Sunday or both and just cancel with an email..

Picked the car up on Saturday. Driven about 250 miles already. Being quite sensible while I run it in, but a few thoughts already. Loving the tiny detail changes from my 2020 C4S 992. The newer software is excellent, the interior noise is much quieter on the motorway and the leather quality is a notable step up from the C4S. One thing I really don’t like is the steering. It’s mega light and artificial which is odd as my C4S was not. I did not order PSP+ for this exact reason, however when I look over the spec online, it does list PSP+. I checked this with my dealer who says its not the same as the PSP+ you add in build, but its feels like it to me. Let’s hope I can have that removed…

Power steering plus reduces steering effort at low speeds in manoeuvring and parking. I'm not sure it should be having any adverse affect during normal highway motoring. The steering weight on mine is fine, so there may be something wrong. It would be prudent to have it checked out.

Chassis misalignment from the factory is not uncommon and would affect steering. It is not generally checked during PDI and can become altered due to the continual loading/unloading of delivery.

I would recommended putting on around 2k miles to allow the suspension to settle, then having the geometry checked and adjusted.

Clive

That’s a fair idea, thank you. But I have driven cars with PSP+ before (even owned one and had it removed). This feels exactly 100% like PSP+. Its mega light when I’m at parking speed. In my opinion it’s the one option that as a driver you want/must avoid. I have said it over and over, it ruins the feel at low speed which somehow blots the whole steering feel on a new generation 911.

I've never spec'd it so have no practical experience, but I believe it's possible to have it to be dialled out at the PC.

Clive

Sorry I’m not explaining very well. I didn’t order it, but I noted on the app (you can see your build options) that it was listed. I asked my dealer who said it wasn’t the same PSP+ that lightens the steering for parking (the option). However, having driven cars with PSP+ I recognise the synthetic light characteristics of PSP+.

Dealer is saying it doesn’t have PSP+ that it can’t be removed so I’m a bit worried.

It's possible the weighting has been modified in production over the past 12 months, but the steering in mine is absolutely fine - and I'm pretty fussy about such things!

Steering feel is subjective, of course and can be influenced by tyre make, pressures, geo, road surfaces etc. You could try reducing the front tyre pressures slightly to see if this helps. If possible try another car as a comparable. It's possible the weighting can be adjusted via software, but you would need to consult an expert regarding such matters.

Anyway good luck with your deliberations and please let us know how you get on.

Clive

Thanks Clive,

I wonder would you mind looking at your spec online (you would need to go to the Porsche website, log in under my porsche and then you car (911 Turbo S) and the scroll to the bottom where it says technical data and see if yours says the same?

it looks like they have added it as standard with rear steering. What I don’t understand is why do that but also offer it as an option for the build? I didn’t option it so I really don’t want it.

Rear-axle steering including Power steering Plus

So the same wording as yours. I'm on Pirelli P Zero's with standard tyre pressures (N2).

See if you can get into another TTS for a comparison. When the time comes for geo, increasing the front wheel caster angle will make the steering feel heavier.

BTW - do you like the steering better in Sport & Sports +mode?

Clive

I'm on my second one now (collected March 2022) and did spec the Power Steering Plus when ordering. I do notice more of a lightness on the steering on low speed maneuvers but not massively different to my previous car without it. It was definitely an option at the time of ordering and one which I ticked the box for

Couple of questions to add to this thread which would like to see if are common or if something I'm just over reacting to!

Rattles - Last Turbo S had a few and went into Porsche a couple of times and on the whole sorted. My current one has an annoying rattle from the center dash speaker and also the passenger door card (same as my previous Turbo S)

PCM - Very occasionally wont connect to my phone or Apple Carplay. Haven't figured out how to shut down and re-boot the new PCM as the trick of holding down the volume button doesn't reboot like the previous PCM did

These are minor niggles which are soon forgotten when I apply a little more right foot and find myself much farther down the road than anticipated! Its still ridiculously fast!

Thanks Lem. I think it might be that I am very fussy.... I avoid the PSP+ because to me, I don't feel the light steering is right on a sports car. I saw the option on the configurator and intentionally avoided it. However it seems Porsche have added it anyway. Really frustrating as for me it numbs the steering and takes something away from the experience. I get some people what it, but why offer it as an option to then add it anyway?

Rattles - I did have a really bad rattle just after I collected the car, so bad even my wife commented on it. However, turned out it was just a loose rear speaker cover, which popped into place when I pressed it. After that not single rattle.

PCM - I have the older PCM 6 (non-colour icons), in the Taycan. It does reset and won't run CarPlay every month or so. It normally works after a leave it off for a few mins. It also makes me log back into my Porsche account after an update, (although there is a way around this by logging in as a guest, then re-selecting your usual profile without needing to renter all the login info/password stuff). It's a little more buggy than the new PCM6. I think they fix a lot of the issues with the latest version. Not sure why they haven't rolled it out to the other cars?

So are you saying PS+ comes by default if you option Rear Axle Steering? Because I have optioned RAS on my inbound 992 GTS.
