A new Macan Register touring event has just been announced. It's a 2/3 day tour of the West Country, specifically North Devon, North Cornwall and West Somerset.
It'll be a chance to experience magnificent coast, countryside and beautiful autumnal scenery, fascinating roads and an opportunity to use your Macan in the way it was intended, all in the company of like-minded people.

If this sounds like your thing, head over to the Members Only section or click here (you have to be a Club member and logged in) for more info and booking details. See you there! [;)] [:D]

Regards,

Clive

There are only a couple of rooms now left at the hotel, so if you were hoping to join in it would be advisable to book quite soon in order to avoid disappointment. ??

As there is still some time to go, so we'll be starting a reserves' list for those initially missing out.

Regards,

Clive

Macan Register's WOTI comes up this weekend. [:)]

We have a full house for our tour and exclusive use of our favourite, luxury, family run, waterside hotel.

23 Porsches running line astern through the West Country landscape should prove quite a sight for the locals.

With 2 full touring days, plus 2 optional ½-day runs AND a dawn raid for the adventurous, they'll be plenty of driving on hand to test both cars and drivers. [;)]

All this and convivial company with like-minded colleagues, good food and maybe a tiny glass of something to wash it down - what could be nicer? ??

We've been out on the route and it's a corker too!

Can't wait for the weekend.

Stay tuned as we'll try to keep you posted as we go! [:D]

Regards,

Clive

The Macan Register tour kicks off today with a lunchtime rendezvous in Taunton for some, whilst others will be going straight on to Instow. A drinks reception, briefing and dinner this evening and the start of the event proper at 10am tomorrow!
Safe journey down everyone! [;)]
Weather is stunning today - forecast for the weekend, sun and showers - so not too bad for this time of year. [:)]

Clive

DAY 1

A full day's motoring yesterday as our convoy wended its way from Instow into Barnstaple, then headed east in the general direction of Crediton before turning back north to Winkleigh and a well-earned coffee break. From here the crocodile wound its way further north through the villages of High Bickington and Atherington before turning west and tackling the switchback road at Langridge Ford. Not for the faint- hearted this one as there are 2 cavernous dips in the road with steeply rising tarmac on either side. Certainly, G forces come into play here!

Snack lunch was taken at the fabulously situated Hartland Quay Hotel before heading further south to Kilkhampton, Red Post, Bude and the coastal road at Widmouth Bay with its breath-taking views over the Channel.

From here we headed back east again into the countryside, but not before tackling the impossibly difficult hairpin on the Dizzard road!

After Cranworthy Water, we hit Red Post again before turning back towards Holsworthy and then north-east to Stibb Cross, picking up the picturesque leafy drive down the Yeo Valley to and back to Instow for cream teas and our Gala dinner.

Out onto Exmoor today. More news later.

Regards,

Clive

DAY 2
Early Sunday morning - 7 am on the dot - except it was 8 pm really as the clocks went back last night. [;)]
A "Dawn Raid" -involving a quick nip around the North Devon lanes before breakfast as a warmup to the day's proceedings.
We headed out towards Exmoor for the rest of day taking in splendid roads around Challacombe and Brendon with Robber's Bridge and Porlock Toll Road being spectacular highlights. At the start, it rained incessantly, making the leafy lanes twice as slippery, but adding to the fun. Later, skies cleared a little with only occasional showers
Some tourers said their goodbyes at lunch, to head homewards, whilst those remaining returned to the hotel to take a rest, have a meal, chat over the day and prepare ourselves for the final leg tomorrow. [;)]

Clive

Don't know how far you put your clocks back - just the one hour here...[:D]
Pleased you're having a great time - the weather was rather "interesting" today at times [:(]

Another well organised Macan weekend, thank you to Mike and Clive for all the hard work in making it such a success. the hotel the drives and stops were all good with the company topping it all.

DAY 3

Starting with a run through Braunton Burrows and heading out to Croyde and Georgeham, our efforts were thwarted by a road closure halfway along. This necessitated a hasty re-route that didn't really work out either, so we retraced our steps and approached Woolacombe from a different direction altogether. Back on track, it was then on to Mullicott Cross and a drop down into Combe Martin.

It was here the meat of the final day really began with Buzzacott Lane leading us to those winding country lanes of Exmoor, a coffee break at Hunters Inn and some extremely tricky, leafy and rain-soaked narrow roads across to the Valley of Rocks at Lynton, on to Lynmouth and then up the A39 Countisbury Hill with spectacular views across the Bristol Channel.

Visiting Porlock for the second time in the weekend, this time we stayed on the main road, which still offers outstanding views and we followed the A39 through to Minehead and eventually our final stop-off point in the fabulous medieval village of Dunster.

It had been a long weekend for those tacking all 4 days, clocking up over 400 miles - but a sense of achievement prevails and great fellowship accumulates when a group of like-mined people come together to share similar experiences.

Our thanks go to the managers and staff at our hotel and the stopovers for looking after us and to everyone who came along to give this Weekend Of The Year their support. [:)]

Regards,

Clive
