April Drive It Day 2022

National Drive It Day was created by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs in 2005. It is the occasion when historic vehicle enthusiasts and the public at large have the opportunity to celebrate the One Thousand Mile Trial organised in 1900 to prove the viability of the new invention, the motor vehicle. Therefore it seemed like the perfect excuse to get the Boxster 25 anniversary out on some twisty roads in celebration, did anyone else get out?

The car is looking good, Greg, but ‘No’ haven’t done it yet.

We are planning to set off next Monday to do 1,000 miles in 4 days in a 1972 Triumph Toledo in aid of Disasters Emergency Committee for Ukraine Relief Work. This is a challenge that involved buying a pre-1980 car for less than £3,000. There have been some delays but we are supposed to be picking the car up today.

There are a few more details on the gofundme website - search: Banger Challenge

I will try to post more details if anyone is interested. We are supposed to be keeping a video diary of the trip. Should anyone feel like making a donation that would be brilliant but see if you can mention PCGB R3 along with your name. Might as well raise our profile at the same time!

Due to the bad knee still only dreaming of doing any mileage at the moment Greg but great to see the Boxster 25 getting out and about, great pictures.

Hi Gordon, will take a look on the website, more than happy to pop a donation on there as well, great effort and good luck.

Regards Greg.

Too much partying again Jim, joking apart I hope it gets better soon. The 25 is sublime to drive sounds as good as it goes, absolutely loving it.

That's great; thanks very much Greg. Did you go for the manual box on the 25? I should think it has to be the best Boxster ever - definitely one to keep!

Hi Greg.

Nice photos mate.

Saw a mate of mines wifes Boxster 25th at our breakfast meet Sunday awesome bit of kit Just wished we could have got hold of a new one.

Flipped ones are ridiculous prices at present Don't get me started :ROFLMAO:

Enjoy [:D]

Having ambushed Greg’s post, above, and while I appreciate that this isn't really anything to do with Porsches there are some video diaries of the first two teams to finish. We set off on Monday and will get as far North as Inverness.

I'm sure someone will tell me if this is an inappropriate post for the club but otherwise, if you are interested in keeping up with this, we plan to submit some video diaries too (once we've mastered the technology). You can see these if you go to the gofundme webpage and search for 'Banger Challenge'.
