Hi Everyone

My wife and I are strongly thinking of replacing our current Macan diesel S with a new model petrol S but are concerned at this current time about the change of MPG we will would get with the petrol version.

At the moment we are getting 37mpg on a run and 32 around town, can anyone give me a sensible idea of the expected mpg we would get with the new petrol S model. We are happy with our current car and it
has been extremely reliable with only a wheel bearing and an add blue pipe needing replacing since our ownership from September 2019, the car has now got 110k on the clock and absolutely drive perfect but feel that now is the time change it for the newer version.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We currently have a 2018 Macan 2.0l and have been getting 28/29 generally and last week on a trip from Midlands to North Wales, a trip of 160 miles, with reasonable speed, did 32.

I hope you find this useful.

David

Thanks for the reply David, we were not wanting to loose the power of the diesel so were smashing the piggy bank and going for the S.

Its nice to know that 30 is a possibility taking into account the cheaper cost of petrol to diesel that would bring it more to 33mpg.

Have now been told that some options like 20" GT wheels and bose is difficult to get hold off so may be putting it on hold until they are back on the configuartor.

I have a 2017 GTS and get 28mpg average on my commute which is a mix of 20/30mph roads followed by dual carriageway and motorway at 60-70mph. Btw the sound of a petrol V6 is great! Go for it while you can ..... Have you thought of a used Porsche deal?

I have a 2020 Macan GTS with the turbo 2.9 litre v6, which I think is in the new S.

the engine is fantastic, really suits the car, sounds good with the sports exhaust and works exceptionally well with the PDK.

in terms of mpg, on a run I get maybe 29 to 30 mpg on the motorway, and 20 to 25 mpg on short trips or spirited B road drives.

Great car and engine, you won’t regret it.

We have a 2.0 Macan general around town about 29/30 on runs circa 32/33 taking it easy did Scotland from London circa 70s saw 34 even 35 trying to see what it could do.
Travelled with a friend with a diesel 3.0, performance wise ain't nothing in it to be honest.
a 2.0 is perfectly enough power for an Suv in my eyes.
Mines got PASM and the Sport button really sharpens things up wouldn't be without the PASM
As mine's an every day car I wanted one that did as much to the gallon as possible.
A lot of people are surprised when they get a chance to drive the 2.0 obviously a bit lighter front end.
For me it does what it says on the tin.
Happy searching. [:D]

My 2019 S has averaged 24.8 might over 27K miles. It's completely dependent on how it's used, particularly the accelerator, I just love pressing it and it's also our "shopping car" so I'm sure it would be possible to get better economy .......

May be of interest but here goes, we currently have the Audi SQ5 which is the same engine as the current Mecan S, a 3.0 V6 turbo. We are swapping to a mecan S hopefully soon.
The average consumption according to the long term trip computer is 28.9mpg. over the last 6000 and odd miles. Like Neil1911 I do enjoy using the loud pedal to pass traffic on the A & B roads. I tend to do trips to Glasgow from Leeds and like to get there on time but don’t want to loose my license by going too much over the limit, Usually averaging 32/34 MPG. I once went to hull with the cruise control set to 60 mph got 40.3mpg. All that said it is depressing to go to the news agents for a paper when the engine is cold and see it only doing 12 to a gallon.

I suspect it's doing less than that 12mpg but that is the minimum it will display! Reading the paper on a tablet has a lot to commend it ??
