Going Green

So, the C2S has gone, and with much careful thought has been replaced with - a Turbo S Cab! The biggest impulse purchase I've ever made. Well, more of a joint impulse purchase as Lesley spotted this one in the showroom at Porsche Swindon when collecting her Cayenne and loved the colour...

After a few days with it I must say it has changed my views on Cabriolets, 4WD, fears of the weight, suspension harshness (-10mm) and low speed friendliness.

The ride is very good, better than the C2S, and in normal traffic is easy to drive, fine in town, doesn't seem to be troubled by road humps and is much quieter than I expected.
Once on the open road the car belies the 4WD aspect and feels well balanced and the front end is just as pointy as I remembered the C2S although the 1700kg weight of the car is definitely there. I haven't had the opportunity to give it full throttle yet, the MRS knocked in when attempted on the journey back from the dealership, but plenty has been written about that elsewhere.

This is my first open top 911, having had a couple of Boxsters in the distant past, but I'm looking forward to some European trips and the summer over here. Fit and finish of the soft top seems first class, but vision is a bit restricted through the rear view mirror, though not as bad as the GT3. I attempted a run with the roof down but it rained within 200 yards. At least I know it works.

The interior is not for the faint hearted with body colour trim - even the seat backs. That is one option that is not now available with 18way seats (another chip shortage issue).
And body colour on the mirror caps, side skirts, air intakes, engine lid slats, and did I mention stripes? On the roof!

Congratulations Peter, I did here about it last night. Hope Lesley is better.

TBH, I am not sure about the colour myself, but then a good change from the red.
:ROFLMAO:

Congratulations Peter, that's one way of going Green. :)

Car looks menacing, just like the Hulk!

Congratulations Peter, it's a real stunner! [;)]
Your 2-way radio handle could now well be "Kermit" if you'd like it. :ROFLMAO:
Regards,

Clive

You’re not the first person to say that…

How you getting on with the Convertible Peter nearly a year in. I have a Turbo S Convertible on order and getting close to locking down the spec so wondered if there is anything you would change or in fact you would rather have a coupe on reflection

I’m currently in two minds about keeping my current one or making the move to the convertible

Apologies, Simon

Only just noticed your question. TTS Cab is fine and has done some decent mileage this year. The spec was not done by me, the car was a few of months old when I bought it. Everything thrown at it as far as I can see. I think a lot of the cosmetic stuff is fun, but not strictly necessary such as painted seat backs and tunnel, extra leather everywhere, but makes the car individual.

If you’re at Bicester on the 11th it’ll be in the hanger If you want a look round it.

As far as the Cab v. Coupe is concerned the cab works really well as an option. First convertible 911 I’ve had and it’s a fine piece of engineering and with the roof up it’s almost as quiet as a coupe.

I like the purity of the coupe but have solved that conundrum elsewhere.
