Hi All, just after your thoughts on the 2023 Macan electric vehicle.

i currently have a 2020 Macan as my daily, am considering moving to the EV when it launches in 2023.

currently I only do approx 3 times a year a long drive, most of the time, within 25 miles of home.

My OPC tells me that they are taking £1000 fully refundable deposits and that they already have a hundred folks put a deposit down.

thoughts on moving to the EV?

is my dealer telling the truth, 100 deposits taken. Are these official Porsche deposits or just the dealer taking in a lot of cash and no Porsche substance behind it?

thank you

Nigel

I wasn't aware the Macan EV had been announced. If it's not announced, dealers can't officially take deposits.

Sounds like potential deposit farming to me and £100 grand's worth of free cash for the dealer. It happens in the States too. Nick Murray has something to say about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNkwv0SHEEs

I would ask to have a copy of the official order form for your car. it may not however be forthcoming,

Regards,

Clive

Only £1k? My OPC charged me £3k ????
Although I do have an official order, it just states Macan on it and not specifically the EV.
My deposit is fully refundable, so if the EV doesn’t meet expectations I’ll just buy a GTS ??

Mentioned it to a member in my own PC yesterday and his response was, "We aren’t taking deposits until it’s announced, I would assume it’s an unofficial deposit?"

So deposit farming seems to be order of the day here.

Regards,

Clive

All, thanks for your responses.

i have a call with the guy I deal with at my OPC tomorrow. Will update on that conversation. Unless my deposit is official from a Porsche, I’m not in. Does seem to me that 100 deposits at £1000 is bizarre to say the least.

if they are deposit farming, then they plunge as a respected dealer with whom I purchase my Porsche cars in the future

Hello All

Spoke to my OPC today, as suspected, these are not Porsche deposits but just with the OPC. £1000 totally refundable at any point. Invoice will state either EV or second generation. As a regular purchaser from my OPC, they also say I would jump up the queue past anyone placing a deposit whilst purchasing for the first time from them. Dealer has no clue on release date. Was told that in the U.K., dealers probably have enough informal deposits to account for many months of deliveries from Porsche. Am not bothered about that as I do not want a early release of the EV Macan. If they offer an early release, I can decline and wait until I believe early release issues are resolved. Dealer did admit that for many months they had issues with the Taycan on release.

Seems as though we may have more ideas on release date, specs, model range and prices than our dealers. Plenty of info online if you search for it.

Took delivery of my Taycan Cross Turismo recently , I got an early build slot after placing a £1k deposit as soon as it was announced. There was a bit of a delay due to supply chain issues.
Car is fantastic, and I will certainly want to replace my wifes Macan with the EV version. Mentioned it to salesman I deal with that OPC and he said giving them a £1k deposit now will put me at the front of queue for Macan EV. As it is totally refundable, I am inclined to do just that as I am sure it helped get my CT sooner than I would have otherwise.

I had a similar conversation with my local PC a week ago and whilst they were happy to register my interest, they weren’t wanting to take a deposit .

Deposited £3K on the EV Macan back in February!
So perhaps i’ll be getting an early one! Deposit ready (but as yet, not requested!) for the GT3RS!!
