981 window switch came off in my hand

HELP! Was a passenger in my wife's car earlier, went to put the window up & the whole switch unit came out loose.

Tried to push it back in, but suspected I have broken a plastic clip, the outer metal ones were visibly there.

I was pulling it up to assess further & then it 'came apart', so the switch, pivot, rubber section etc are all in pieces....but I can see the metal clip holders on the inner side that broke. This was only minor force, so can assume it was on its last legs.

Obviously easy to buy a replacement switch set up, but the cable seems extremely short to get to fitting the new now - wondering if this needs to be a door card off method to change it out?

Seem to be unsuccessful with the search feature, so if anyone here has done similar I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks

Matt

Edit...now removed the surround, so can see it is not a card off job, just need to locate the original part - eBay seems full of the parts, but cannot believe an OEM Porsche part is going to be £20!

Lots of us have used the ebay £20 specials for replacing the sill mounted front/rear releases to perfect results, me included.

OEM part £110.

If ebay has lots of parts, then lots of failures are occurring...

Fantastic, thank you for the reassurance & now ordered - getting me out of the dog house.

Am sure she put it down to me having a few cheeky pints over lunch with her.

at least she didn’t insist I remove my switch until hers arrived.

Might give it a clean and tell her it is new!

I am just hoping the 2 pieces of plastic & the metal clips that failed don't rattle in the door, otherwise the card will need to come off.
