Rear wiper not parking correctly

The issue that I have on my 944 is that the rear wiper is not parking where it should,when I turn off the wiper it sweeps to the bottom of the screen and parks about 3 inches upwards. I wonder if there is a fix please?
 
I guess there must be a limit switch somewhere - Took mine off years ago - never got the point in having a wipe without a wash and with a good coating of rainX or similar the window stays clear once you are driving at moderate speed. One advantage of replacing it with a bung is that the rear hatch opens more readily when the release is pressed.
If you end up replacing it there are 2 different size spindles / holes through the glass,

This could just be a corroded/dirty switch...mine was like this for years, I just got in the habit of throwing the switch when the arm was it the correct position. Recently I had the interior out to cover in leather, once everything was back the wiper worked as it should. I can only assume that disconnecting and reconnecting the switch did the trick?

Correct parking is controlled by the contacts/wiper tracks inside the motor/gearbox fed by an extra power feed from the wiper switch.
I would check:-
1.The switch terminals /cable connections (normally Lucar female crimped terminations)
2.The switch itself -is it providing the extra power feed?
3.All the connections on the motor itself-NB-label them & their terminal positions 1st.
4.Continuity of the cables from the switch -check any other cable joints under boot /side carpets that are in the circuit .Sorry can't remember if there are any but my memory tells me there might be.
Apart from tight connections etc ,check for any verdigris build up
The wiper arm spindle is quite long & runs through a bushed bearing to the outside world-this spindle can rust somewhat & introduces an amount of friction to the drive which can inhibit the parking action.
Also the grease in the wormdrive gearbox can get "squeezed " away from the gear engagement are also leading to excess friction.
The gearbox also contains a funny spur gear meshing link which translates the motor 1 way rotary action into the reversing arm sweeping action -this also dries up -if you strip the unit ,again make careful note of the meshing positions of these two spur geared links.
