PSE Retrofit

I don’t think that’s the case Dave but PSE probably will need to be activated via PIWIS or similar by your Indie.

Jeff

Apologies if this is a daft question, but I have my local indie lined up to do a PSE retrofit on my C 981S. I read somewhere that the crackles and bangs on overrun is something that there is an ECU change for.

Don't judge me but I really want the crackles and bangs (had them on a factory fitted 981 Boxster S I had before) - anyone got any idea if this means it should actually be done at an OPC so they can do the ECU update?

Any advice gratefully appreciated

After fitting the hardware and new switch for the PSE the car is coded with PIWIS so that it recognises it has a PSE and to assign the new button to the centre console. There is no mention of reprogramming the DME on the fitting instructions. I thought the pops and crackles were associated with the sport chrono package. My 982S with S/C+ pops and crackles without a PSE.

I had PSE retro fitted to my 981 Cayman with no sport chrono. The popps and crackles appear when the PSE button is activated. As this was done at an OPC I presume that it was coded as Richard says

Thanks all - and really daft question, should I expect my Indie to have access to PIWIS or is that an OPC-only thing?

Some Porsche Independents like RPM Technik do have a full PIWIS capability Dave and others may have either lower PIWIS levels or an equivalent like Autologic which probably will do the job.

I would have the conversation with your chosen Independent to ensure that they are able to enable PSE when they’ve fitted the new system.

Jeff

My PSE was factory fitted without Sports Chrono and has all the pops & crackles when activated.
