Buying guide / tips for a Macan newbie?

Hi there, I’ve settled on my next car being a Macan and looking for buying advice / tips etc. I’ve put my desire for a 911 on hold and planning to get my Porsche fix by changing the family car to a Macan. Although fewer pennies, I’m probably looking an S over a regular 2L Macan,l to get the proper Porsche effect, right?
Budget wise, we’re looking at around the 45-50k mark, so will be used.
I’ve garnered so far that I would really want the pan-roof, car play (Porsche Connect?) and ideally the lush tan leather interior. That’s my wish list at least. So, any tips? I’m currently looking at the Used Approved for reassurance and it seems possible

I was in the same position at the end of 2019, trying to decide between an S, GTS or Turbo. Having discussed with my local PEC and indecent Porsche specialist, I settled on the 3.0l GTS. It didn't take long to find one, a March 2017 plate with 20k miles, just before the tax increase came in. Not only is the GTS a powerful car, it comes with many options as standard. GTS values seem to have increased recently but if you can push it to a good example then it might prove a good investment. I have since driven the standard Macan 2l as a loan car from my local PEC, and it doesn't have the power or exhaust note to please. It's nippy around town but on the open roads it's not much fun at all. Hope that helps.

You haven't put a foot wrong so far. I've had an S since 1 Sept 2019, bought new and now done just over 20k delightful miles! The problem is that the well publicised problems with new car production has pushed used prices sky high. I wish you luck with your search, pano roof can be the source of problems, so personally I'd steer clear, if yours will live in a garage it may be less of a worry. Good hunting!

I am coming from the other way. I had a 911, Carerra 2s, 997.2.... Great car but not really very practical for London with all the speed bumps. I had an Audi as our family car, but knew I was going to sell the 911 at some point, so bought a 2017 Macan Turbo. I spent 46k on it, but I was very happy with all the options it came with like Air Suspension, Panoramic, Electric tow bar, Sports Exhaust etc, so I was happy to go for an older car with great spec, low miles and more grunt.

If you are looking at a newer spec, with the 2.9l engine, then the GTS is a very good buy. I miss my 911, but hey, I get a lot more out of my Macan, I just drove it to Corsica from London this summer with luggage (wife and 2 kids) and the long distance was eaten up. The car really came into its own on the windy mountain roads of Corsica with sports plus on, manual selected, low level suspension, it really gripped the road. So really four things to consider... 1. Budget, 2. How new a car do you want, 3. How long do you plan to keep it and 4. What sort of driving are you going to do.

For me, the 4 year old Turbo ticked all the boxes, and still does even though I have sold the 911 (for a profit). My next quandary is going to be after I test drive the future Macan Electric, but hey, that is another day.
