Absence is not making the heart grow fonder!

The absence of the 992 Register column from Porsche Post this month is an example of how inept our officials seem to be. There is no reference whatsoever nor any indication the Register even exists! [:(]

I accept there is no Register Secretary atm (what's happening about this BTW?), but we do have a Register Director, a full time staff at HQ and any number of enthusiastic Register members. Surely between them all, something could have cobbled together for this month's publication.

Even a heading with the RD's contact details and a request for a volunteer RS would have been better than nothing! []

Regards,

Clive

Perhaps each month on rotation a member could collate news and submit
a short report. At least until a secretary is up and running. If no one contributes
its our fault

There are a several members regularly contributing in this forum and who I am sure would willingly have cobbled together something had it been known no Register content whatsoever was going to appear.

It only needed someone with a bit of gumption from Club officialdom to grasp the situation and instigate some action - but maybe this is asking a bit too much from the current regime.

Nothing will appear next month either unless it's already been submitted since the PP copy deadline has already passed. []

Regards,

Clive

Seems your prayers have been answered Clive, and we've got two new RS's - so good on them for stepping up to the plate and hope to see them on the Forum soon. James Bullen and Stephen Bowser, South and North respectively.

Hello All,
Just a very quick note to say "Hello" I am Stephen; the North RS and James is the South RS.

Very early days for us both, a steep learning curve (as both are new to RS duties), please be gentle with us.

I know from meeting James we are both keen and will work together for all 992 Register members.

Hopefully we will get to meet some of you face to face in the near future.

Best Regards,
Stephen.

That is good news indeed and congratulations to you both on your appointment. I'm sure all 992 Register members will be wishing you both every success in your new venture. [:)]

The forum is an important part of communication for this Register and it is hoped you will using it on a regular basis providing news, views, reviews, opinions and topics of interest, as well as promoting upcoming events. It's one of the ways of bringing us all together, giving us a sense of belonging and making us feel the Club is a valuable resource. It has been rather underused in the past IMHO.

Register Secretary is a demanding post requiring a great deal of commitment when properly undertaken (as I well know!), but I am sure you will enjoy the full support from members and any assistance whenever it is needed - just ask!

It is very fulfilling post when the job is well done. [:D]

Regards,

Clive

Complete agreement with Clive, congratulations to you both.

One thing you may wish to do by way of an introduction of yourselves on the Forum is to start an Owners Thread which gives you and everyone else a chance to post up their P&J. The one I started for the 991 has proved popular over the years with over 135k views, so worth doing I would have thought - here's the link https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=851260

Good Evening all,

Further to Stephen's post, I write to introduce myself. I am James, his counterpart for the South for the 992 Register and I am pleased to be getting more involved with PCGB and look forward to getting to know Register members.

I have owned a number of Porsche cars, most of which have been 911's and am currently driving a 992 Carrera S purchased last year as my daily driver alongside another couple of 911's.

Your points are noted on the lack of utilisation of the 992 forum to date, we will see if we can improve on things in that regard as well as for other comms channels and events too. Thanks also for the offers of support on to those we have received from Register members on email, it really is appreciated, especially given our lack of experience.

One thing we would ask for is a little patience while we get up to speed; we do have some ideas that (as they develop) we will no doubt bounce off of the Register and forum members, but for now we are getting to grips with what's expected of us and how we can make the Register as engaging, informative and helpful to members as possible.

We hope to be able to serve you as well as some of you appear to have served other Registers and their members in the past.

All the best,

James

Well said James and a warm welcome as joint RS of 992 Register. We're all looking forward to exciting times to come! [:)]

One point - who receives the emails addressed to 992@porschechlubgb.com? Should there be separate addresses for each RS in order to enable smoother communication?

Regards,

Clive

Hi Clive, thanks for the support

It's timely that you raise the point about email addresses - Stephen and I have the same question (among others) lined up for the Register Directors when we meet later this week!

all the best,

James
