Recommendations for Servicing Specialist in Lancs?

Hi,
I'm interested in opinions regarding local Porsche Specialists. Waaaaay back, before 2013 (when I still had my old '89 Carrera 3.2) I used to go to Colin Brennan in Rossendale (not a Porsche specialist but an old school performance car guy who knew quite a bit about old 911's and other classic marques) and then 9-Apart in Ramsbottom (used to called Porsche-Apart back then) when they opened their workshop.

Now I'm back in the Porsche game I'm looking to get my 996 serviced before the Sept Track Day (first ever track day - so any advice on that is welcome). Pretty sure Colin would have retired now, even if he hasn't the 996 (though 20yrs old) is a very different sort of car - mechanically - from the marques he was familiar with. I don't know if 9-Apart still has a workshop after all this time or there are other, better, specialists localish to Rossendale. I've registered my 996 to my Digital Porsche ID and it has been accepted by the Bolton Porsche Centre (just got to get over there to get it on their Classic Register)

Cheers :)

Lots of members are happy with Unique and Jasmine locally. Hartech's engine expertise is legendary. I think some of these guys are quite busy so check booking in times. Porsche Bolton would look after you too for sure, speak to Jon Challis the service manager there - they are good supporters of the region and they have booked on the track day too with a view to bringing a couple of cars.

The track day should be a great experience.

The day will start with a driver's briefing which will help explain a few key points. The main ones being that access on to the track is controlled by a traffic light system which ensures that you won't join the circuit right in front of, or just behind someone else. The second one is that overtaking is strictly by consent and only on certain parts of the circuit. If the car in front of you has not put their indicator on and backed off then stay behind it. If there is someone behind you, it is because they are quicker than you over the course of a lap so let them past.

We will then all go out in a slow convoy for 3 "sighting laps" where you will experience first hand precisely which parts of the track are in use (Blyton Park can be configured a few different ways).

After that, the track is yours to enjoy for the rest of the day as often as you like.

It is a very safe venue with plenty of generous run off areas so if you do get over ambitious, you are unlikely to damage anything more than your ego!

Main thing is just to keep an eye on your tyre pressures. If you are out a lot, tyre temperatures will go up and so will the pressures so you may need to take some air out.

It will be an informal and friendly day and the cafe will be open for essential coffee and bacon sandwiches!

Final pointer would be to fill up with fuel before you arrive. There is no fuel at the circuit. The nearest high octane fuel used to be at Jet in Gainsborough but we found a new BP station last year which may be nearer.

Look forward to seeing you there.
