Cayenne S 4.2 diesel 2016 fault - knocking.

we have a fault that sounds like it’s coming from front left hand side wheel/driveshaft. It knocks at low speed and seems worse when warm. Has anyone experienced this, can you help?

thanks

My 2013 S Diesel knocks/clunks when accelerating and only when warm. Feels like it’s central. Did you find what the problem was?

I read that Porsche have extended the warranty on Transfer Cases to 10yrs and may refund anyone that has paid for a replacement now covered under warranty.

Has anyone been successful in claiming under this extended warranty?

I paid for a new transfer case in 2018 and it’s going again…..

Yes I have twice for a 7 year old car (55,000 miles), but I also have an active extended warranty so I am not sure whether they treated my claim as covered by that or by the special extension they have put in place. I did point out to the OPC that there was a special extension to avoid them suggesting it was a wear and tear item and therefore not covered by the extended warranty.

I’m out of warranty on my 2016 4.2 Diesel S and have been told I’m having my transfer case replaced as a goodwill gesture from Porsche.

They replaced mine, that was only replaced in 2018 and Porsche UK gave me a £500 credit note as goodwill, on the basis that I had to pay for the first failure in 2018 as the car was out of warranty.

Interesting reading. My friend has a 2015 gts.Last year he took it to Porsche Reading as it felt like he was driving over small speed humps all the time, they said it was the transfer case and was quoted around £4k to replace. They put new oil in and was fine for a few months. He started having the same problems and heard they were covering a 7 year warrwenty on the box now so last month booked it in Reading again and they are now saying nothing is wrong with it.Can anyone confirm are they extending the warrenty for 7 or 10 years as other websites are saying.

Mine cost £2,600 to replace in 2018 - I know some countries have agreed to extend, but when I contacted Porsche UK, they didn’t confirm. Contact them and pursue it (contact@porsche.co.uk).

To my knowledge Porsche are covering the Transfer Case for 10 years. I had my Transfer Case replaced on my 2017 Cayenne S in 2020 foc as it was under warranty.
The problem with the Transfer Cases is the Breather Pipe which allows moisture to enter and that is what causes the damage. So when a Transfer case is replaced a new modified Breather Pipe must be fitted or else the Transfer Case will fail again. Your OPC should be aware of this.

Hi
Just to provide further proof I had mine replaced FOC at Porsche Sheffield as a good will gesture.
Mine completely failed, lost all drive ??
