C&C Dakota July 1st 2021

Many thanks for the heads-up Brian, apologies to Alan for assigning his SC `s ownership elsewhere. These days every moment is a senior moment.. (-:
 
No apologies necessary George, only too happy to get the old girl out and stretch her legs!

She also enjoyed a weekend stay up at Knockhill to support the Classic Sports Car Club race weekend!

 
I`m pleased to have caused no you no upset Alan.
I have owned both a seventies and an eighties SC and spent rather a lot of time in and under them, even threw one off the track at the bottom of Duffus Dip having suffered a bit of brain fade, Jonny Grant and others got a bit muddy helping extracting the old thing back on to the black top...
I really enjoyed having a good look over your SC at the Dakota C&C, as I have for some time now been thinking of venturing back into air cooled ownership as an alternative to my old V8 Morgan, though need to get round to selling it beforehand, easier said than done, I have owned it for circa 20 years.

Will try to attach a pic of my 80`SC taken after it`s last restoration and not long before I sold it for £11k, if memory serves...
 
Thanks for the kind comments re my old SC, though I bought it as a non runner and re-sprayed it twice during my ownership of it this is a pic of my prep for the first re-spray, I had to strip it back as it had been resprayed badly to repair some sort of chemical spillage along one side, perhaps vandalism from a time before I bought it. I fitted a new clutch and later oil fed chain tensioner set up with new ramps and chains, the mileage at the time would have been below 100k as I think it was still below that when I sold it.. The SC was a great Porsche, lots of happy memories over many years ownership.. (-:

Alan, I think we may be at risk of receiving a rap on the knuckles from the mods as we have drifted some way off the C&C at the Dakota hotel...?
If you have not visited the 911SC section of the air-cooled forum and care to do so and beam up AIR COOLED MEMORIES, you will hopefully find some chat and pics that Alastair and I had while relating our SC "enjoyment"... (-:
T`would be great if you could add your experiences and a few pics to the thread there..
