Vodafone Tracker on my new Mecan S keeps locking out and cannot be located if stolen

Hello All,
Has anyone had issues with the Vodafone Tracker fitted to their Mecan? Ours is locking out every few weeks and cannot be tracked if stolen. Porsche GB think that it is an issue owhen the car is an area of low signal. The same is happing with our friends who took delivery in December 20 along with us. If you haven't used the APP recently, you may want to check that your Mecan can be tracked if stolen. It may affect you getting paid out!
Vodafone are saying that they are getting a number of calls from Mecan owners with issues.
We are still working with the dealer, but I would appreciate knowing if other owners are experiencing the same problem.
Many thanks
All the best
Nick

It might be unrelated but all of our internet sources ( FTTP, Satellite and EE 5G) have been a bit flakey for the past couple of months

.

My Macan GTS has gone back to the dealer for the second time for a tracker unit ‘hard reset’ after it stopped communicating with the server . Anyone else experience this?
cheers

There's a piece in the "Technically Speaking" section on this (click on item 57 in the Index).

I've been back to my PC 4 times with this problem and it was finally sorted on the 5th occasion and has been working satisfactorily now for more than 2 months.

Of course, theoretically you may be uninsured if your tracker is not working. In my case, insurers don't require a tracker, so I am only subscribed to the remote services.

Regards,

Clive

Thanks Clive
I've read your thread on Technically Speaking. I was also thinking that I should not have to pay for a subscription that cannot be provided, but I'll keep that in my back pocket for now while seeing if the problem recurs. The Technician dealing with the car on Friday says it's known issue that is being sorted out between Porsche and Vodafone. In the meantime I'll now be checking my Porsche Connect app every day to make sure it's still working. If it fails again (which he told me it might), I think I'd better tell my insurer.
Regards

Not just a problem with Macans. My 718 Spyder needed a Hard Reset immediately after I took delivery in December 2021. Now the tracker unit has failed its health check. Told by Vodafone that the car needed a second Hard Reset plus software update. Specifically asked why a software update alone would not work as have had updates with other cars. Told NO, needs Hard Reset as well, cannot explain why since not trained in that area (fair enough, I probably wouldn't understand either). Booked in with OPC, now received e-mail from Porsche which suggests may only need a software update! Obviously problem has been around for more than 6 months without resolution!
