Porsche Classic Communication Plus For Boxster S 987.1

In the same vein when will they add the cars to the Porsche Classic servicing regime?

Youngest cars are 9 years old now. Irritating a 986 is a fraction of the cost of a 987 to service

Don't know what the specifics of the classic service scheme are, but my local OPC recently serviced my 2011 987S - and said " ah - the car is now 10 years old - so you will get the discounted labour rate"

No, but it is really frustrating that if I had an older model I could get CarPlay, but my 981 cannot have a more recent map than 2016?

There are newer maps available for the pcm3.1 system I think they are labelled 2019 but in reality are 2018 files. Newer but not smack up to date. There are methods available to upgrade for less than opc cost.

there are also 3rd party modules available to add carplay to pcm 3.1 (9x1) and 3.0 (9x7.2 )

few people over on boxa.net have done it

nm automotive supply one version https://www.nmautomotive.co.uk/

the other is joyeauto
https://joyeauto.eu/

Thanks Paul, I had seen your post on another thread. I have V4.52. Apparently the maps are 2016? My problem is that I have Porsche warranty. Otherwise I would use http://www.customice.org.uk/ who put CarPlay in the Audi and BMW. OPC was supposed to have updated system Which I have read should be V4.76.

yes the warranty is a block to intrusive upgrades.

re the native nav. I am not so familiar with the 3.1 unit but I think the numbers you are referring to are the software versions, not the maps.

my car is a 987:2 pcm 3.0 it has version 2.24 of the software and the maps are 2019 ( well 2018 in reality )

Thanks Paul. Yes I agree that the Version refers to the system not the map. Interesting that you have 2018/19 map. I will take it up with the opc. Strange that they do not seem to know these things?
