Royal Visit to Balmoral
We finally made it to Scotland in a Porsche and on day 4 of our stay at Balmoral, enjoying Karim's Cottage which was built for the manservant of Queen Victoria. Invited by our extended family the Davis's, we are here with Martin, Angela, Jemma, Seb, Nette and myself which is our first since 2019. Amazing place and our visit would not have been complete without making the challenging drive to Killiemuir to visit some of our RO's, George and Caitlin in Region 2 Scotland North. Superb dinner at one of their locals, The Drover's followed by hospitality at their house and a strange feeling that we were sitting in the room I know so well through the many Zoom meetings which usually went on for hours. Really nice to meet up again in person but sad to miss out on the Malt whiskey which was more than compensated for by the drive there and back. Ideally suited to the Scottish roads, we were in our 911_50th Anniversary and being a gen1 991 in my opinion is the best of the naturally aspirated 911's. Great drive on the longest day of the year so no need for headlights up to 11.00pm although the dozens of deer were difficult to spot. Apologies to the bunny but I was committed in a fast corner, just relievd it wasn't a deer which would have resulted in a big bucks repair. Bringing up the rear was the Davis family driven by my son in his BMW M3 unfortunately having a hare raising experience with a larger critter. Hoping to meet up with Tracy and Cliffe's group in Braemar on Friday getting back to the good old days enjoying fabulous adventures, being with lovely people brought together through our fantastic Club.
Many thanks to George and Caitlin.

Thank you for joining us in Scotland Phil & Nette, it was also good to meet George & Caitlin and thank you both for your kind hospitality earlier this week. After that fabulous glass of whisky that George kindly shared with me, I was glad that I wasn’t driving...
It was a shame that we couldn’t bring our Cayman with us to enjoy some of R2’s amazing roads, but it wouldn’t have been too practical or comfortable for our dog Daisy, that said Angela’s Macan has been incredible this week and at times I even forgot that I was driving such a heavy diesel car, especially on the fabulous Tomintoul road.
We are looking forward to our next trip to Scotland later this year.

It was wonderful to see you all and actually get to spend some quality time with fellow Porsche enthusiasts :D

I feel like our Porsche family has grown significantly between your visit and Tracy's group too! It never stops amazing me the lovely and interesting characters you meet through this club ??

We will always share our favourite haunts in Scotland - the roads and scenery are too good to keep a secret.

We look forward to visiting your neck of the woods soon!

All the best, your new Porsche pals,
Caitlin and George
