Silverstone Classic

Hello - looking for some advise. Planning to go to the Silverstone Classic this year. Only want to go for one day and was wondering if there are any recommendations as to which day would be best. Thanks, Graham.

Friday is quiet, quite a lot of stands setting up particularly in the morning.

Saturday is lively with race practice, some races end of day, pits are open and can walk around, everything open.

Sunday is busier, racing, pits a little more active and more paddock action.

I am doing Friday PM and all day Saturday.

My advice to new comers to the Classic is one day is not enough.[:-]

IMO you need to be up and in early otherwise you could spend a considerable time queuing on the A43.
So much to see and do. Yes you could do both the old and new pits, the shopping village watch the racing qualifying on Fri and racing Sat/Sun (on Saturday evening approx. 1900-2100hrs Group C cars race enjoy whilst having PCGB BBQ on the roof of the PEC Saturday. Just to much to mention. You cannot do it justice in a day.

However, all this is based on previous years.

I not missed the event for some 20 odd years. I'm booked for the three days and looking forward to it.[:)]

Thanks for the input chaps - much appreciated. I am planning to attend Saturday and will stay local so getting in early shouldn't be too difficult.

To all those people who expect that the pits etc will be open, I wouldn’t bank on it, as last year @ The Oulton Park Gold cup the pits were closed to the public as was the paddock, the same happened @ Cadwell Park a bit later in the year. This is so that the competitors can be in a bubble, therefore we were not allowed in. The competitors were not allowed out of their designated area, into the public viewing areas around the circuit. I hope that I am wrong but the same restrictions are in place for the Donnington Classic on May 3rd.

Hello - quick ticket question. I received my parking pass today, but no tickets. Do they come separately? Also, I was expecting to see my REG number on the parking pass - but its blank. I am 99% sure I registered my car, is there a way to confirm?

Many thanks, Graham.

Same here. Blank number plate details - no problem.

No entry ticket yet, I think they come from different companies and normally they are sent out 2 weeks before event, so I'm going to follow up on Monday.

HI Graham, This year the car passes were supplied without your car registration number being shown.

You need to put your registration number and mobile phone number on the pass where it says to do so in the white box titled "Car Club"

My plan is to drive different cars each day and I was told to put all of the reg numbers on the windscreen pass, along with my mobile number.

You can use the free bus service to go around the circuit and get to the old and new pits, just hop on and off where you want. Hope to see you there, have a great weekend.

I’m not attending but am curious to know why they want your mobile phone number on the pass and whether the pass has to be placed in your windscreen for all to see?

I received the car pass yesterday but no tickets. Tried to find out about the tickets, checked my e-mails and nothing so went onto web site. Apparently you have to download them from your on line account and are going to be available from July 19th. Very hard to find this on the web site and of course nobody you can actually speak to But found this link:
https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/the-classic/faqs

whole process this year seems to be much less transparent than previously or am I just getting old!!

You should get an email with link to tickets:

Is there a track parade for us at the Classic. My other car club has confirmed they have one on the Saturday just wondered if we get one too ?
I am booked for the infield parking in the Saturday

Received my email and printed the tickets out! Quick question - what time is it recommended to arrive by?

This, below, from the display instructions but I think around 9 is better.

Please ensure you arrive at the circuit prior to 09:30 and
are parked by 10:00 (if arriving after 09:30, you may be
required to park in the free public car park). There should
be NO car club vehicle movement between 10:00 and
17:00. Please do not leave until after 17:00 and note that
once you leave the venue you will be unable to drive your
car back into the event on any given day. This is important
given the large public spectator attendance at the event

Hi Graham,
The earlier you arrive, the shorter the queues. If the weather is good the queues to get into the circuit can be very long, especially the A43 from the M1 or the M40.
Our cars form a display, so they should really be parked before the public come in.
Saturday is usually a busy day with many visitors. Don't forget to hop on a bus (they are free) and go to the the new pits and paddock, or around the perimeter road to see the entire circuit. The funfair is usually free and the view is good from the top of the big wheel.
Hope you enjoy your day there.
