June 2021 Delivery - Macan GTS

I finally bit the bullet (....gave in to the Mrs to be more truthful) and placed an order for a Macan GTS. After some wrangling we got a build slot confirmed just yesterday for June 2021. Discounting on a highly spec'd version was only 1.75%.

The questions - should I have waited for the facelift or even the Gen 2, and is the discounting always this hard to get ?

My only doubt is the forthcoming facelift and the new Gen release not being so far away. This will be my first SUV having avoided them up until now, but we had an OPC loaner 2.0T for 5 days last year and the Mrs loved it - and to be honest it was a really nice car so my mind was opened up (I believe that the previous owner of my Cayman R sold it to buy a Macan way back in 2016 so I'd argue that this is a strong endorsement in itself)!

Unless the facelift is imminent I’d take the car as planned and enjoy it. Can’t comment on discounts!

If you want to buy a new car with a big discount, go buy, eg, a Citroen. Don't expect it on a Porsche.

Usually, the bigger the discount when new, the higher the subsequent depreciation charges.

The model year usually starts from July. So if you take delivery of a July '21 car, it will usually be in the '22 model year - so will have the latest spec.

You have done well to get any discount as Macans are Porsche's most popular model and Centres usually have no need to discount them to get sales. If you have negotiated a fixed amount discount, clarify whether this comes off the nett price or after all the OR costs have been added. The two figures will be quite a different.

Thanks for the responses.

My sentiment on discounts on Porsche is that anything is a bonus on a car so difficult to get a build slot for - I wasn't expecting much movement but was interested to see if what I did manage to get was in keeping with the experiences of others, so thanks for the comments that have buried any doubts in that area.

There was apparently a strong chance that there wouldn't be a GTS model with the looming changes in 2021. I was very specific in my want for a GTS so unless there was a very strong reason to await a late 2021 or next gen model it seems that the June build is going to be very likely the last opportunity.

Exciting times!
