Rear Spolier stuck in up position

Hi all. I took my car out for a spin earlier today and on my return the rear spoiler remained in the up position. I have tried to close it using the on-screen spoiler button (keeping my finger on that button for 30 seconds or so) but it stays in the up position. There are no warnings on the dash or anything indicating a fault but I am assuming that there must be; either that or I am missing something. I did notice that the spoiler wasn't sitting completely flush with the body before I headed out so perhaps that is indicative of a fault. Anyone have any ideas about how I might get it down? Perhaps a visit to an OPC is necessary but I would rather avoid that if there is a simple remedy.

Hi Mike,

Sorry I can't help specifically, but there was another user on the forum who recently posted about a spoiler issue whereby it error'ed while he was out on a drive. After getting it checked by his OPC, engineer suggested that the cold weather can cause it to seize up. Not something you should expect on a £100k + car but best to get it checked by your dealer I would say. While there ask them if they can spray any suspect areas with some form of lubricant to coat and protect it if it is indeed getting impacted by cold weather.

It shouldn't really make a difference, but do you garage your car at night or leave it on drive/road? I'm wondering if the recent snow has anything to do with it. ??

Thx Schuey. My car is left outside in all weather and as you say, really shouldn't be upset by a British winter. I've booked it in with OPC, though have to wait until 8 March as I need a courtesy car! I managed to get it to close with my daughter holding screen button whilst I applied some pressure to the spoiler; after a little while it closed itself. My suspicion is that some position/angle sensor and/or microswitch/hall sensor is out of kilter and needs some form of calibration or replacement. In the meantime, I'm going to see if I can pull a fuse to stop it going up in the first place - sadly, there are several fuses labelled BCM (Body Control Module) so which one to pull is a mystery thus far.
