While taking my SC to bits and re-building it I noticed many parts which were date code.
One interesting one was the rear suspension trialing arms.

Another interesting one was the starter motor ring:

Obviously there are lots of parts on the engine which are date code such as the heads:

Other parts I have noticed are 'date stamps' on the rear of the dashboard instruments,
date codes on the wheels.
What other parts have SC owners noticed which are date coded?

I think some of the plastic parts under the bonnet for the air flow have date codes on them, but didn't make a note of anything (when trying to get the multi-speed fan thingy to work properly.) I still find the airflow system an "enigma" !!!

Bear in mind the parts date code will be the date that the parts were made.
They would not be incorporated into a vehicle until (perhaps much) later.

My date codes are pretty consistent. Mostly in May & June 1977. The SC was built in July 77 and was in the show room in August.
i also notice a 77 on the Engine case both sides:

I had a look at my valve covers. They have a 1977 date code in the circle:

Also on the back of all my dash dials there is a blue date code stamp.
If you zoom in you can see it on the back of the oil temperature gauge.

Will your engine stamps 23/77 and 19/77 refer to week numbers, perhaps? It works that way on a lot of old British vehicles. Very pleasing, isn't it?

I took out the windscreen washer container under the left front wing on my 930 turbo. It was built in mid 1983.
There was a nice date stamp May (5) 1983. I am sure the same will be on my SC when I check it with a date of 1977.

Check out the small circle.
