New Taycan owner - to be - quick charging question

Hi All

Although long term 911/944 PCGB, next week all being well I will be taking delivery of a new Taycan Turbo. As it’s a showroom car and is through my company things have happened quite quickly so it would be fair to say that charging infrastructure at home and at work isn’t yet in place. Home wise is slightly complicated by an imminent house move in March meaning there’s no point in installing a 7kW charger at home (though one will be installed ASAP at the new house). So my question is, what are members experiences of charging using a three pin plug? The car is fitted with the upgraded 150kW internal charger and is also supplied with the "Mobile Charger Connect” module. If any of you have tried charging through a normal plug I’d be very interested how long a full charge takes etc please?

Thanks and regards

Chris

Hi Chris
Congratulations on your car-to-be! Charging through the 3 pin plug mobile connect is undoubtably slow, but whether that is an issue for you depends on how you want to use the car. E.g. if it is the case of using it for a shortish commute each day, returning home with 50% battery, you should be able to top back up overnight no problem. If you are doing longer distances each day, you would be better off finding your local high speed public charging station (use Zap map app) and topping up there on your way home first.
Does that help? On the 3 pin plug, you might get e.g. 10 miles range per hour (so 100 miles over 10 hours)...but it depends on the state of your battery (regardless of charging mechanism, it charges quicker when it is at a low state of charge...the fuller it gets, the slower the charge).
best regards
