2021 Well maybe............! Dependant on the Virus Corona Beer lurgy! (Which I've had and recovered from now)

But the restrictions are looking to cancel many events so with the first round on April 5th this night not happen
(But the car wouldn't be ready for this anyway!)
The 2nd round is at Croft May 30th which has a better chance of staying.. and the car being ready

The 924 is no longer and a 944 is now the evolution 2 race car that will be extensively modified to suit the race regs
which allow wheel arch extensions to be fitted with a maximum total additional width of 200mm - 4"

(The Picture belows shows a GT-R which has the same arch kit being fitted)

2 & 3 hour Endurance racing is very hard on any car especially when compared to the usual 20 minute spring racing, hence
the car needs to be build to be much stronger (Chassis & Suspension) and more reliable (Better heat control Engine & Brakes)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7thEwzObrcI

The chassis is a 1987 944 (Aluminum front wishbones & Rear Trailing arms + Aluminum cross member)
The Engine is a 944 (1990 3.0 S2 block / 1990 951 Crank / 1987 2.5 cylinder head) as is the 016 Gearbox (With LSD)
The Front Stub axles / hubs / Discs and rear hubs / discs& all the brake calipers will all be (Early )1985 944 Turbo (Brembo) items
with the expensive but astounding (Price & Performance) Pagid RS Brake pads (£500 ! for all 4 corners)

- More aero development on a new front splitter (Wider & adjustable lip from 2-4") to match the wider front wings & arches
- Side Exit exhaust (With 1 straight through Silencer)
- Rear Diffuser tunnels (With the silencer gone)
- Wider wheels from 8" to 9"
- Lighter wheels from 8x16 Porsche cups to 9x16" BBS RS splitrims (1.5kg lighter each)
- Wider tyres 215mm to 245mm
- Softer compound from R888 Toyo (Treadwear 100) to Pirelli Trofeo R (60) @ £1000 a set!!
- Bespoke 935 design Front wishbone & Caster arm / mount
- Roll correction Front stub axle & Steering tie rod extensions
- Lightweight rear torsion tube (Solid mounted to chassis in 4 places) Torsion bars removed
- 935 Blade type Uniball rear spring plates
- Turbofan Wheel covers (Brake cooling) + air Ducting from front lower spoiler
- Radiator position angled to exit up through the front of the Bonnet
- 16 Row Oil Cooled fitted & Oil Temp cockpit gauge
- Strengthened X member Steel brace
An much more..........

Should be fun, does the 924 foundation affect the classification of it in some championships?

Not exactly, just that the regs say you can ONLY extend the car's width by 200mm maximum total width.
And the rear GTS panels are 250mm more than a skinny 924! So I'm just semi considering if it's a 944 (Which it pretty much is!)
then the rear of a 944 to a GT-S is within the guidelines.

The championship we did and still aim to enter this year has come on a lot over the last 4 years and typically certain car's come in, dominate and then can cause a stir, EG the overall 2020 Winner was a 2.oT Seat Leon ! beating Cayman GT4 3.8, M4 BMW, Superchargered Lotus Exige's, etc...! But the Seat Leon is a TCR car which is a homolgated race car with Magnesium suspension, Sequential gearshift and 350 bhp etc..etc... So this makes it more easier to rock up with a much more highly modified car with some attributes that are a litttle bit close or over ! the regs but with everyone doing it........Allowed!

Lots of Technical input mostly (Maths and physics) has been discussed this week with Chris @ Center Gravity who has a lot of experience
with how to retune, and change components on cars when they are put in a direction by their owners!
(He sees so many that lower the car then complain the ride's bad and it doesn't handle as well! )

Eg in my case I want to widen the car by nearly 8" total (Front and rear) which will play havoc with the handling and that's the wrong direction as it
wants to be much better than the stock width chassis can handle!

So many things need to be addressed:

Wider front wishbones will throw out KPI angles, scrub radius, Roll centre and the Centre of Gravity......
- Track tie rod pivot points need to be extended
- Front Damper angle will get bigger,
- Front struts need more movement and the bottom bracket needs taking off and welding further up the leg
- The top mount position needs moving out by 2.5 - 3" ! (This ones a challenge!)
- The rear Trailing arms need moving up (Inner pick up point) to correct the roll centre
- The front wishbone pickup may have to be raised on the cross member or have a bracket coming off the original point.
And much more.....

It's all angles and dangles which is make right will provide a car with
- a lower centre for Gravity (Les body roll),
- Ideal Roll centre / axis which make the car pivot & handle well and not tip over like a wheelbarrow on corners!
- wider track transfers less weight when cornering, less weight on each tyre means it's job is easier as the molecules won't
give up as easy and slide!
- Better contact patch through caster and Camber settings
And more........
